Holywell, near St Ives, Cambs

England's oldest thatched Inn nestling beside the river Great Ouse. It has foundations dating back to 560 AD when liquor was first served on the site, and is mentioned in the Doomsday Book. The Old Ferry Boat Inn is a large charming Inn with heavily beamed interior, open fires and delightful nooks and crannies.
The Inn is also said to be haunted by the ghost of Juliet who lived in the Inn. She was a beautiful 17 year old girl who committed suicide in 1050 after a tragic love affair with a local woodcutter. One of the slabs in the floor is said to be her gravestone, which was left unmarked because suicide was not respected at the time.
Her ghost is said to return at midnight on the anniversary of her death each year - 17th March, St Patrick's Day
