There's a rat in mi kitchen

For some time now we had the feeling not to be alone at home, funny noises at night, cereal box ripped open .... but the most annoying was little shits everywhere in the house.

So we decided to take measures against the invaders. We went to the hardware store and we bought this mouse trap. Buddhist country oblige, here you don't kill the mice, you trap them !

I had some doubt about the efficiency of this stuff but anyway I set it up next to the food closet and we went to sleep.

The next morning my wife went first to the kitchen and came back almost immediately shouting "There is something in the box !" She jumped back under the covers and sent me investigating.

There was actually something in the box, but it wasn't a mouse .... but TWO !

Later I went to the far end of the garden to set them free and strongly advised them against coming back. The box looks strangely like the deep fryer in McDo, I may not be so nice the next time !

Popular around here are "glue pads" to catch rats and mice dunno the proper words for it. Its a piece of flat plastic smeared with a thick glue. Bait in the middle, and next morning there is a rat/mouse on the pad, stuck firm and slowly killing itself through terror.

Did not know whether to laugh or cry at work when they caught one, and place it in the hot sun. Presumably so it could sunbathe for a while....cause they don't kill them...

Leave the rat stuck on them for a while as it will squeel which in turn attracts other rats which will also get stuck

I know one time we got a mother mouse followed by three little baby mice on the same glue trap....

She uses the glue on the pad thing. A bit of biscuit or the like in the middle and it's like muslims at a stoning.

However, Perota, she's seen this thread and decided we need to get the same kind of trap as you.

Apparently the people up the hill will buy the mice and rats, cos they taste good.

That's a really nasty product. No creature should have to die slowly in a garage can from dehydration. The lease they could do is give you some poison to put the stuck rat out of its misery.

The glue pads are sick and if you have pets, dangerous for them. Easy answer to your prob is: get a kittycat. Worked for me.

I save them for my dogs. I take them out in a big field, let them go and the two lads have a great time. About 50/50 survival rate.

Yes, it is - used it once, and found the culprit (a rat) caught in the glue trap the next morning. I spent the better part of a day, with a friend, freeing it from the trap, and removing all the glue from its pelt (powder worked well, though we ended up giving it a clean shave before the day was over). Kept it in a cage for a couple of weeks, nursing it back to health. Horrid way to trap an animal.

Set it free a couple of miles from the house once recovered.

Trap or Glue both worked for me until they were both made redundant by the neighbour's cat. Very efficient and the catch supplies a free meal for the tabby!

I used poison once when I lived in Hat Yai, but the rat snuck into a place totally inaccessible under the stairs and died there. The house stank for a fortnight. The next time I used a glue trap - it worked, but I felt bad about the rat stuck on the tray, staring at me, just waiting to die.

Now, we've got three dogs, and they won't tolerate rats at all. It's all over very quickly when one comes inside the grounds of my *cough* estate. Much better way to deal with it.
