Australian man snatched a diamond ring and ran away. He was hoping for an engagement with Thai woman. Pattaya police arrested him after two hours while walking in Soi Bua Khao with the diamond ring in his pants.
Pattaya, September 28, 2011[PDN]; Pol.Lt.Col. Krissakorn Thongintr Deputy Superintendent, Pattaya police together and Pol. Maj. Vissarut Songhong were notified by Mr. Peetipong Tantichairattanakul age 26 , the owner “Daranee 1” gold shop South Pattaya Road opposite Wat Chaimongkol market at 65/5 Moo 10 Tambon Nong Preu, Pattaya that a foreigner snatched a diamond ring and run away. Mr Peetipong asked for police assistance.

At the scene of the crime a three story building with the gold shop located on the ground floor equipped. The shop was equipped with CCTV. Upon police investigation Mr. Peetipong, the owner of the gold shop “Daranee1″ said that before the theft a foreign man, height approximately 170-180 cm wearing a long sleeve white shirt and a a white cap entered the shop and asked to have a look at a diamond ring.
Mr. Peetipong gave him a diamond ring to have a look at. Upon receiving the ring he stepped out from the shop and ran away. Mr. Peetipon called to the police. The footage from the CCTV was clear. The police kept the CCTV images for evidence before issuing an arrest warrant.

Later at 14:20 hrs the police found the foreigner walking in Soi Buakao Moo 10 Nong Preu district. On his body they found a diamond ring, white gold hidden in his pants. The foreigner confessed that he snatched the ring and ran away from the gold shop.
The foreigner Mr. Justin Vida age 34, Australian citizen who does not have a passport resides at Soi Tony in South Pattaya confessed that he snatched the diamond ring because he wanted to get engaged with a Thai woman. He had lost his passport two months earlier and had ran out of money. Mr Justin Vidal will be charged with theft and staying illegally in the Kingdom of Thailand. He will be prosecuted according to the Thai law.
