A female university student was robbed at knifepoint and assaulted at a petrol station in Bangkok's Bang Kapi district yesterday.

Rangsit University student Sirinapa Kasemwattana, 20, lost Bt1,000 in cash and suffered cuts and head wounds in the robbery.

She told police she had stopped by the petrol station to use the toilet and was robbed by a man aged about 20 on her way out.

She said she started screaming when the man tried to push her back into the toilet. Scared that her screams would alert others, the man attacked her before running away, Sirinapa said.
Metropolitan Police Division 4 Commander Maj Gen Wittaya Kosiyasathit, who inspected the scene and visited the victim, said police had identified two suspects from the petrol station's closed-circuit TV camera and would arrest them soon. One man kept a lookout while the other robbed Sirinapa. The men were believed to have followed Sirinapa from a bank where she withdrew cash.
