Russian woman hurt on Jomtien Beach in apparent random shooting.

Two stories now involving injuries to Russian Tourists.
The less serious case comes from the Bangkok-Pattaya Hospital where medical staff admitted Mr. Sergey Tavatynkina aged 49 and his 51 year old wife Olga, on Thursday Night who were injured during a bag snatch which became violent after the pair decided to fight back. The incident occurred in front of the Golden beach Resort in Naklua as the pair were walking back to their hotel. The suspect, who was later arrested, came up behind the pair and attempted to snatch a shoulder bag from the couple. He was armed with a broken bottle which he used during the altercation. The suspect, Khun Galong aged 22, was later caught and taken to Banglamung Police station where he confessed to the crime and claimed he needed money to feed his drug habit. The Russian couple are expected to fully recover from their injuries.
The more serious case comes from the Pattaya Memorial Hospital where medical staff admitted Miss. Elena Kuzmina aged 30 who had been shot in her back and the bullet was thought to have lodged in her stomach. The incident occurred in front of a Family Mart Convenience Store located in front of the Jomtien Paradise Condotel at the far end of Jomtien Beach. Her shaken friend, Miss Dash aged 23 explained to us Miss Elena went for a walk alone on Jomtien Beach. Details of the exact chain of events leading to the shooting are sketchy but it involved an armed robbery by three Thai Men on the road. This disturbing case is now being investigated by Police Lieutenant Colonel Apimook from Dongtan Police Sub-Station.
