Almost near topic I remember reading in the past few months something about the possibility of the Thai government even changing the age of consent to 21. This is not something old I read it was a news article within the past few months. Anyone else remember this?

EDITED: In fact, I remember the reason it was such a debate was the article mentioned the increase of the age of consent for females only with no mention of raising the age of the males.

Interesting is a few long time Cambodian expats are now back in Pattaya bitching about the price of beer and cigarettes, I wonder why?

I am sure you are good guy, as pedo's are not common nor the norm. But that type of reasoning is the very way these things justify what they do.

Just because some parents might be terrible, does that give some perverted fcuk the right to abuse the poor child? Same thing goes with the parents who sell their children into the trade, does that give some freak the right to abuse the poor child? The argument that the child consents is the sickest, they do not have the mental ability to consent, yet there are freaks who think it makes everything ok the fact that the child is trying to earn money for her mother to buy some seeds for the field.

I agree some people don't deserve the honor of being a parent, but that does not give the right to do whatever one pleases with these kids, even though eventually they will (sadly) find someone who thinks it is acceptable. The worst is the abuser, how pathetic must one be, how destitute and rejected by all real women before they determine the only way they can get what they want is from someone who can not deny it. The very weakest of all the men out there.

I watched this programme and as sad as it was, it only focused on foriegners, the underlying problem that needs to be addressed is the acceptance by the cambodian society itself.
Now we the west are doing the right thing, by trying to eradicate the problem, however we must replace the lost reveue with jobs and a viable economic plan, other than that very little will change as the cambodian men look upon virgins as good fortune and an enhancement on thir sexual prowess.
If we stopped all foriegners going to cambodia the problem would still exist.

You mean with the locals?? I don't agree 100%, but I am sure to some level it would exist, it does in every society. The only real problem is some societies more readily accept it unfortunately.

It happens in all cultures. The Western culture so far is the only one trying to stop it. What you see on TV in countries like Thailand and Cambodia are only too happy to help western governments and NGO's control there own people as it distracts from the real situation that it is very common locally. It's always good to say it is a farang problem as it removes local guilt while bring in money. Overall it does piss all to solve the real problem.

It would be nice if the US and British government's with the same eagerness in South East Asian countries stopped young boys from being slaved and buggered in Afghanistan, but that would offend their best new friends. I am sure larvidchr approves of the morals of this policy.
