Sattahip Police officer shoots thief dead

Suspected thief shot dead by off-duty Police officer at Police Party in Sattahip

A suspected thief was shot dead by an off-duty Police Office at a Police Party in Sattahip, in the early hours of Saturday Morning.

Police Colonel Tirapong, the Deputy Commander of Chonburi Provincial Police was at the party and made his way to the crime scene where he inspected the body of Khun Ongat aged 40. He had been shot in his stomach, chest and right arm by Police Sergeant Suchart aged 30 who told us he left the party to use the toilet and spotted the victim attempting to break-in to an apartment which is normally occupied by Police Lieutenant Colonel Chowsiri, a Senior Inspector at Sattahip Police Station.

The victim saw the officer and produced a gun and opened fire.

The officer was injured but was able to return fire and fatally injured the suspected thief.

The Deputy Police Commander inspected the scene and was given a full briefing of the incident while the Police Party continued only meters away from the crime scene.

A full investigation is now underway and the injured officer, who is recovering from an injury to his left arm, is recovering in Hospital but will be interviewed shortly regarding the incident.

refreshing to see how things are handled here.

in europe, streets would have been closed off, businesses shut, and activities curtailed for a couple of days whilst the investigation proceeded. hundreds would have been inconvenienced and the policemen dragged through the courts and reviled by the public.

True. Sometimes the Thai way is easier, quicker, cheaper, and removes the problem once and for all.

    Suspected thief?

Maybe he was just pissed off the he hadn't received an invite to their party, anyway doesn't seem like he managed to spoil the party for anybody!

No word on the cop's injuries.. Pretty convenient timing I'd say. Maybe this cop ought to follow the little cnut that killed Del Pinto and then his own 18 year old pregnant bride? Catching him and quickly dispatching him while 'breaking into someplace' would be a load off everyone's mind.
My mind is not for rent to any God or Government, There's no hope for your discontent - the changes are permanent!

Three shots. Now I know I'll be accused of being a bleeding heart liberal soft on crime but this does seem a little excessive.

Still if it was only one shot and he had lived he might be able to tell a completely false story that would put untold strain on the police force's limited investigation resources.

What was stashed in the big wigs policeman's place that was worth breaking into? The pictures shown do not look like a high level bigwigs place, but his little shag hole or stash house. Got shot by the alert guard dog, who gets a promotion.
