Everybody has a point of view. My question was based on his earlier posts in which he made it clear that he believed the PAD was an organisation dedicated to fighting corruption. I read the article, carefully, there is no content in it, it is just allegation with no proof or evidence of anything, I made the assumption that he posted the article to back up his belief that the main impetus of PAD was to fight corruption. I consider an allegation of political chicanery with no evidence to be propaganda, it fits in with many other unsubstantiated claims and accusations I've heard from PAD in the last while. I'm not saying it's not true but I am saying that as it is it contains nothing other than accusations. His post needs to be taken in the context of other posts of his on this thread, in which he has repeated a great deal of PAD propaganda without much in the way of analysis and criticism. That's the reason for my question, the post you referred to prompted me to ask the question but the question is based on context and not on an individual post. Posts in a thread like this don't necessarily stand alone and it's easy to see patterns in what posters both say and c&p over a period of time and make deductions from that.

Why do I hate Samak? He is a product of Thaksin and corruption. When Thaksin was in it was clear that he abused the media, his choices resulted in the deaths of thousands of Thai people on witch hunts for drugs, his management of the southern insurgency resulted in a flare up against the government and more deaths and along with the explosion of violence his people killed 60 - 80 protestors by forcing them into trucks which resulted in their suffocation; no one was punished for this. Thaksin and his family used the government for personal gain related to : subway advertising contracts, the Burma mobile phone service deals, land deals, preferences on tax rates for AISGSM, tax evasion on share sales, and other areas. They are just corrupt bunch. No matter what you think about Sondhi he has never been a politician who stole directly from the country by using his office. He may have been corrupt and may even have strange ideas for the future of the country but he is still a better person than Samak or Thaksin. Sondhi does not want to be a poltician and has no plan to be one. He's fighting out of revenge from what I can see.

Andy and Bob if you really believe what you are saying then post the links or names of the books to your so obvious realities. I'm sure you have a lot of good info besides the few news stories that have come out since this started. Oh, and post a few references to old links you have posted on TD that support the beliefs which you seem to have had for such a long time. You must have mentioned this way back on Teakdoor in order to save the people of Thailand from such tyranny.

I'm not claiming to be a person who knows the truth. I am only saying that I have a right to believe what I want. If this is a thread for experts and truthseers then I am not one. Someday the truth will be known just as we know that there are or aren't WMDs in Iraq. Are they there Andy?

I've posted lots of links and references in this thread already. There is a mass of information on this around. Why on earth should I post links to old posts I've made, there's a perfectly adequate search function on the forum you can use to find them, there is no shortage of posts in which I express my opinions on this forum. You may think you have the right to believe what you want, and you do, of course, but that's a religious attitude, hardly fitting for politics or history.

4.30 pm: Urgent: The court finds Samak guilty.
Six judges considered Samak to be the "employee" while three others considered Samak a business partner of the studio, a constitutional offence in both cases.
The court said evidence presented by Samak that he was only given transport fees for hosting the show "contradicted" payment evidence by the studio, Face Media.
The court went strong on the principles laid down by the Constitution against conflicts of interests. The judges pointed out that using definitions of "employ", "employer" and "employee" from different laws are not enough to tell whether the will of the Constitution has been violated.

    Says it all.

Caretaker PM to decide on lifting emergency decree

(BangkokPost.com) - Caretaker deputy prime minister and finance minister Surapong Suebwonglee, who acts as the People Power party (PPP) secretary-general, said on Wednesday that caretaker prime minister Somchai Wongsawat will be responsible for lifting the state of emergency in Bangkok.

The decree has been enforced following the clashes between the anti-government and pro-government groups in the capital earlier last week.

Mr Surapong said the cabinet meeting will be held as usual next week, but the place of the meeting is yet to be determined.

The new cabinet will be appointed within the end of September, he anticipated, and the caretaker premier will also be responsible for appointing the new government's economic committee.

does this mean he'll become the new incumbent or that the SoE will be lifted prior to the vote for a new PM currently slotted for Friday ?

Appeals court allows PAD leaders to appeal against warrants
    September 17, 2008

The Court of Appeals Wednesday ruled to launch an appellate review on the warrants to arrest nine leaders of the People's Alliance for Democracy accused of treason.

The high court said in its ruling that the nine PAD leaders were entitled to appeal the warrants which had direct bearing on their rights.

Following the August 26 raid on NBT station and the besieging of Government House, police sought and received the approval of the Criminal Court to issue the arrest warrants.

The warrants spelled out five serious criminal charges punishable by death or life imprisonment.

The nine suspects wanted by police are Sondhi Limthongkul, Chamlong Srimuang, Somsak Kosaisuk, Pipop Thongchai, Somkiart Pongpaiboon, Suriyasai Katasila, Chaiwat Sinsuwong, Amorn Amornratananont and Therdpoom Chaidee.
