On June 11th, 2025, a joint operation led by the Chonburi Provincial Employment Office, in collaboration with the Chonburi Provincial Labor Office, Internal Security Operations Command, Chonburi Immigration Office, and Pattaya Tourist Police, targeted illegal foreign workers in the Banglamung District of Chonburi. The operation resulted in the arrest of eight undocumented workers.
The first raid took place at a company located in the Huay Yai Subdistrict. Authorities apprehended eight foreign nationals for violating labor laws: seven Myanmar nationals (five men and two women) and one Cambodian woman. They were charged under Section 8 of the law, with penalties under Section 101 of the Alien Employment Management Decree B.E. 2560 for working without permits. Additionally, the company’s authorized director was arrested for employing undocumented workers, violating Section 9, with penalties under Section 102 of the same decree. All suspects were handed over to Huay Yai Police Station for prosecution.
The second operation targeted three Chinese restaurants along Pattaya Second Road following reports from concerned citizens on social media (TikTok). Eight Myanmar nationals (two men and six women) were detained for labor violations. Five were charged with working without permits under Section 8, with penalties under Section 101, while three faced additional charges under Section 64/2, with penalties under Section 119/1, for failing to notify authorities of their employment details within 15 days.
The suspects were transferred to Pattaya City Police Station, and complaints were filed against their employers, who will also face legal action.
The operation is part of Thailand’s ongoing efforts to enforce labor regulations and curb illegal employment in key economic hubs like Chonburi.
