On June 1st, 2025, at 9:00 AM, police from Huay Yai Police Station responded to an incident at the Sala Nam Tao Daeng Market in Moo 1 in the Khao Mai Kaew Subdistrict. Police officers, supported by patrol units, rushed to the scene after receiving a report of a theft.
At the bustling night market, known for its fresh vegetables and dried foods, vendors had apprehended a suspect identified as Mr. Apichart Nisangram, 35, known locally as “Petch.” The suspect was in a disheveled state, with bloodstains on his clothing, when police arrived to take him into custody. It was unclear how he had been injured.
Mrs. Waraporn Pengbuppha, 52, a vegetable stall owner, expressed her frustration, stating that Petch had been stealing from her stall almost daily. “He took everything—long beans, tomatoes, coriander, canned fish, even fermented fish sauce,” she said. “The losses amounted to nearly 1,000 baht a day. I had to install CCTV to catch the culprit.”
Another vendor, Mrs. Khamphan Rakpha, 68, added how Petch stole jackfruit from her home, stripping the tree bare despite warnings. “I stopped confronting him out of fear he might harm me,” she said, explaining to The Pattaya News team her reluctance to intervene further.
Petch’s mother, speaking to reporters, revealed that her son had a history of violent behavior, including physically assaulting her by hitting her with a shoe when upset. She noted that Petch had suffered a brain injury from a motorcycle accident, which may have affected his mental state. She insisted he face the consequences of his crimes.
Police have detained Petch and are preparing to press charges, with further legal proceedings underway.
