A Thai man was arrested in Naklua after a heated altercation led him to stab another man with scissors in what he claimed was in self-defense.
At 2 AM on October 25th, Banglamung police arrested Mr. Phian Duangsawat, 48, along with a 50 cm sword, near the Na Kluea Bridge on suspicions that he had stabbed another man with scissors during a fight.
The arrest followed a complaint filed earlier by a victim identified only as Mr. Kittichai, who had been stabbed in the left wrist and back. The police identified Mr. Phian as the suspect and tracked him down before finding him hiding under a bridge near the scene, with bloodstains still on his clothes. Mr. Phian attempted to flee but was quickly arrested, along with a long sword.
During questioning, Mr. Phian reportedly confessed to stabbing Mr. Kittichai, claiming it was in self-defense. He explained that they had a prior argument, and on the night of the incident, Mr. Kittichai allegedly confronted and assaulted him while riding a motorcycle with a friend. The nature of the argument and how they knew each other previously was not made clear. In the struggle, Mr. Phian used a pair of scissors from his bag to stab Mr. Kittichai four or five times. Mr. Phian then escaped the scene, armed himself with a sword, and hid under the bridge, where he was arrested. It was unclear where Mr. Phian had obtained the sword from.
Mr. Phian, along with the 50 cm sword, was taken to the Banglamung Police Station for further legal proceedings.
