PM2.5 dust in the atmosphere in Bangkok will increase today and over the weekend, due to the cool weather and poor air circulation, according to the Pollution Control Department.
Thirty-six areas in the capital were found to have air pollution exceeding the 35.5µg/m³ standard level, with Nong Khaem district recording the highest PM2.5 level at 51.1µg/m³.
PM2.5 in Bangkok was measured at between 19.5µg/m³ and 53.8µg/m³ at 7am this morning, with 36 areas having excessive PM2.5 dust in the air.
Thanks to the Trami tropical cyclone, which is currently moving across the South China Sea towards Vietnam, the department reported that there will, however, be more rain in Bangkok next week and this will ease the air pollution problem.
Meanwhile, the Meteorological Department reported today that northern and north-eastern regions will experience cold temperatures in the mornings, while the southern region can expect heavy rain in some areas. 10% of Bangkok will also see rain.
