Tragic Accident Involving Famous Thai Singer Claims Two Lives

In a tragic incident on Thursday morning, October 10th, a minivan driven by a famous Thai singer collided with a motorbike in Sai Mai, resulting in the deaths of two individuals.

Emergency responders reported that they were notified of the accident at 4:00 A.M. on the Thepparak Overpass in Or-Ngern. Upon arrival, they found the body of Ms. Teanphon, 28, near the damaged motorbike and minivan. Additionally, Mr. Jakkrapat, 21, was discovered with severe injuries on Sukhaphiban 5 Road, 10 meters below the overpass. He was rushed to a nearby hospital but was later pronounced dead.

Ms. Jinnipa, 24, who sustained only minor injuries, recounted the events to emergency responders. She explained that her younger brother, Mr. Jakkrapat, was driving the motorbike with her and their elder sister as passengers. The motorbike had stopped on the left side of the road after she dropped her drinking water bottle. While she was retrieving the bottle, the minivan crashed into the motorbike, causing her brother and older sister to be thrown onto the road.

The minivan driver, Mr. Manassawin (Sirisak) Nantasaen, 63, known as ‘Tik Shiro’, was at the scene, visibly distraught and apologizing to the victims. The Khannayao Police are continuing their investigation, including conducting an alcohol breath test on the singer for further legal action.

Why are they testing the singer when they were a passenger?

the overpasses in thailand are invariably poorly illuminated and always narrower than the roads they connect with little or no safety shoulder, so it was rather stupid to stop a motorbike on an overpass, especially at 4 a.m., and with 2 passengers riding pillion.

but as a poster so eloquently put it the other day, in thailand if you play stupid games you invariably win stupid prizes.

...and i would be surprised if no alcohol or dope was found in the blood of the singer at 4.a.m. either.

the 63year old was probably nodding off as well.

You might want to try reading it again, slowly, starting with the bit that says "a minivan driven by a famous Thai singer"

Time will tell. The CWMS says he was not known to be a big drinker.

    Current Wannabe Missus Shu.

Tiz late on a Friday evening .... She is studying for an imminent exam, the television is embargoed and I am left alone with a box of wine. And a computer. A dangerous combination.

I could do with a drop of wine.

Thailand gets worse and worse in that respect, sadly.

I took CWMS out for an early dinner. Now she is studying, so I am without a driver. And the best thing at dinner was the "3 Singha" deal, so I am past the point of driving myself.
Already had a black Chevy truck try to kill me today. I don't think it was personal! So I am home, effectively alone. The dogs are all resting, I haven't quite got that close up and personal thing going on with them.

There is a 'Laos bar' as the CWMS likes to call it, not too far away and I happened to notice as we drove home that it was already open. Only you fancy folk in the big cities have 'clubs'.

Tiz an interesting point. When they reduced the tax, did shop prices go down? Not where I am. Only CP margins went up. No surprise there.

As always, the poets were ahead of us. In this case, Leonard Cohen:

Everybody knows the good guys lost
Everybody knows the fight was fixed
The poor stay poor, the rich get rich
    That's how it goes
    Everybody knows

That said, I noticed that if you do not stick with the old brands at the old prices but look past the 'Celebration Red', then quite a few new labels have appeared on the Makro shelf. (My vendor of choice beause there are no local choices beyond Lotus's's's's) So there are now wines from various countries in the B400 range that were not there before. Still bottom of the range stuff but at least some choice, even if it it is 4 quid stuff for 10 quid.
The boxed stuff has not changed, no new options there. I doubt CP want to lose margin.
