A 25-year-old Thai woman in Pattaya reported a disturbing incident in which a man sneaked into her apartment to steal and sniff her underwear.


On October 7th, The Pattaya News reporters were informed by Ms. A (alias), a 25-year-old woman, who revealed that she had been the victim of a perverse man who crept into her apartment area and sniffed her underwear hanging outside on a laundry rack


Ms. A provided CCTV footage as evidence. She explained that the incident took place late at night on October 6th and she had since filed a report with the Banglamung Police Station.

Ms. A shared that she noticed a man, approximately 20 to 30 years old, fair-skinned, and dressed in green sportswear, lurking around her apartment before heading to her sister’s room. He then grabbed some underwear and inhaled it. The man was likely a foreign national.




Shocked, Ms. A rushed to the second floor and shouted at him, asking what he was doing. The man panicked, threw the underwear back, and shouted, “I’m giving it back, pretty lady!” before fleeing when others started to come out.


Ms. A expressed her concerns to the reporter, stating that she no longer feels safe after the incident. She urged police to take the case seriously and apprehend the suspect as soon as possible.

Underwear-Sniffing Man Finally Arrested in Pattaya

A man who reportedly sniffed a Thai woman’s underwear, which had been hung outside to dry, and then fled, was finally arrested in Pattaya after his relatives tipped the police off. The suspect was not a foreigner as initially reported.

At 10:36 PM on October 7th, Banglamung police, led by Pol. Lt. Col. Supawat Lattapreecha, arrested the suspect, identified only as 21-year-old Mr. Rungtawan, at his residence in the Naklua area. The arrest followed a tip-off from the suspect’s relatives that he was the one sniffing a woman’s underwear, which had been widely reported in the news.

According to police, Mr. Rungtawan confessed to the crime, claiming he had seen the underwear drying outside a room and impulsively took it to sniff. However, he denied having any ill intentions toward the owner.


Mr. Rungtawan was then taken to the scene of the incident to point out where the crime occurred. Police instructed him to apologize to the victim, who was present during the reenactment.


Police subsequently searched the suspect’s residence and found no illegal items. However, a background check revealed that Mr. Rungtawan had previously been arrested for snatching valuables from tourists and was currently out on bail. He was handed over to investigators for further legal proceedings.
