Thread: Samui Festival returns for 3rd year

SURAT THANI, 27th August 2018 (NNT) - Surat Thani province will organize the Samui Festival for three years in a row to promote tourism and the local culture. Activities will take place across the island.

Surat Thani Governor Witchawut Chinto said the Samui Festival, scheduled for 25-30 September, is a collaboration between the provincial administration and all sectors on the island. The festival had been successful for the last two years, he said.

This year's event will feature cultural performances, games and other activities which demonstrate culture and the way of life of the local people. Highlights of the activities include an alms-giving ceremony in which merit-makers offer only freshly cooked food to monks.

Samui Festival Marathon & Trail and a 30-kilometer long distance cycle race will also take place during the festival.
