School director moved and placed under probe for having an affair with a student

    January 24, 2018 | By Thai PBS

A school director in Bua Yai district of Nakhon Ratchasima has been transferred out of the school and a fact-finding committee was set up to investigation allegations that he had an affairs with a high-school female student at the school.

Mr Sanong Soodsa-ard, director of Region 5 Primary Education Office based in Nakhon Ratchasima, said on Wednesday that he had ordered the school director in question to be transferred to his office pending an investigation which is expected to be concluded in a week. He hinted that if the allegations were proven to be substantiated, the director might be dismissed for gross disciplinary violation.

According to the allegations, the school director had been in regular contact with the Matthayom 2 student in his school through Line application and the two had an affair. The same school director was earlier faulted for having committed an indecent act with a Pathom 6 student at another school and was disciplined with his salary cut by 5 percent for two months after the student’s parents entered into a compromise deal with the director. He was later transferred to the current school in Bua Yai district.

Meanwhile, Pol Col Karom Boonsod, the superintendent of Bua Yai district police, said a police team had been formed to investigate the case against the school director to determine whether a charge of taking a minor from the care of her parents could be filed against him.

Panel finds evidence of school director’s ‘romantic’ relationship with schoolgirl

    January 26, 2018

    THE NATION

A FACT-FINDING probe has found sufficient grounds substantiating that a 51-year-old school director in Nakhon Ratchasima’s Bua Yai district had an inappropriate romantic relationship with a 14-year-old Mathayom 2 schoolgirl.

The results of the investigation will today be forwarded to the provincial education committee, chaired by the province’s governor, to set up a disciplinary committee to further investigate and punish the man administratively if he is found guilty.

Ban Patong Thanoen Samakkee School director Nathapop Boonthongtho could also face a criminal charge of taking a minor under 15 away from his or her parent or guardian, which the Bua Yai police and a Provincial Police Region 3-assigned team have said they are investigating. The charge is punishable with imprisonment of between three and 15 years and a fine of Bt6,000 to Bt30,000.

Punishment could also include dismissal from the civil service with or without his pension and other benefits, Nakhon Ratchasima Primary Education Service Area Office 6 deputy director Supapongsa Chantharang said yesterday.

Supapongsa led the fact-finding panel examining the allegation against Nathapop.

He said Nathapop and the schoolgirl, whose name had been withheld due to her age, would testify before the serious disciplinary probe committee.
Neither Nathapop nor the girl have attended the school this week since the scandal broke.

Nathapop was transferred on Tuesday to the education office effective immediately, pending the investigation’s final results, but has not reported for his new duties.

Permanent Secretary for Justice Ministry Thawatchai Thaikhiew, meanwhile, wrote on his personal Facebook page that the school director would probably face criminal charges related to the case.

He cited the charge of statutory rape, which involves engaging in sexual contact with a minor under 15 regardless of the victim’s consent, which is punishable by four to 20 years in jail and a Bt8,000 to Bt40,000 fine. The charge cannot be reduced in a plea agreement.

If the girl’s parents had given consent to an illegal relationship between the two, they could also face up to six months in prison, a fine of as much as Bt60,000 or both for violating the Child Protection Act’s Section 26 (3).

Police have already issued a summons for Nathapop to hear charges of taking a minor under 15 to commit a lewd act at the Bua Yai precinct with a deadline of today. If he fails to appear, police may issue an arrest warrant for him, said Bua Yai superintendant Pol Colonel Kharom Buasod.

Police also would investigate if Nathapop had had sex with the girl before deciding whether to statutory rape charges, he said.

If the maximum sentence is 20 years, he should definitely get this sentence. He should get a harsher penalty than that..

In the article it says that if the parents consented to the relationship he would get less jail time...... whaat? Why would the parents consent to a relationship where the girl is under aged and going out with a supposed male role model!!

Yep. My wife is furious. She says Thailand will have to wait until someone of royal blood becomes a victim of a teacher pedo before authorities buck up their act and consider it a major serious crime.

Disgraced school chief faces another complaint

    January 27, 2018
    BANGKOK POST

Another girl, 13, escorted by her mother, files a sexual harassment complaint with Bua Yai police against Mr Nathaphop. The girl is of the same class as the other student allegedly having sex with him earlier.

NAKHON RATCHASIMA: The state-school director in Bua Yai district under probe for having sex with a 14-year-old student will face another summons after another student accused him of sexually harassing her. The girl, 13, was escorted on Saturday by her mother to file a complaint with Bua Yai police against Nathaphop Thongboontho, 51, director of Patong Thanon Samakkhi School in this district.

The mother told police that her daughter had been sexually harassed by the same man. She is a Mathayom Suksa 2 (Grade 8) student of the same class as the 14-year-old girl who allegedly had an affair with the principal.

According to the mother, Mr Nathaphop offered his daughter a ride before the New Year holidays. While she was in his car, he began touching her hands, arms and legs and persuaded her to have sex with him. He also offered her 2,000 baht each time if she agreed to have sex with him, but the girl rejected.

Police planned to issue a summons for the director to hear the charge of sexual harassment soon.
Earlier, Mr Nathaphop allegedly had an affair with a 14-year-old Mathathom Suksa 2 student at his school. He failed to show up to hear the charge after a summons was served.

The sex scandal was exposed after angry local residents and members of the school committee released copies of Line chat messages from the girl’s mobile phone. In the messages, the school director addressed the girl as “darling’’ and “dear wife’’. The girl also addressed him as “darling’’. After the scandal spread, the director and the girl were absent from the school.

Pol Col Arkhom Boonsod, superintendent of Bua Yai police, said a police committee handling the first sex case against the accused director came up with the same findings with those of an education panel looking into the case. Police investigators would summon those involved for questioning, said the station chief. He promised to ensure justice to both sides.

Mr Nathaphop and his second wife, a 20-year-old employee of a convenience store, were not at their house. Neighbours told local reporters that his wife packed her belongings and left the house after the scandal involving her husband was exposed.

The accused school director’s house is locked. He has not been seen there for several days after the sex scandal.

More concerned with the deeper social ideals of face saving, kreng jai, etc than the criminal act itself.

Was he working at his 20 year old wife's school when she was a student, by chance?

If he has a passport, look for him shopping in London.

Accused school director to surrender Wednesday

    January 28, 2018
    BANGKOK POST:

NAKON RATCHASIMA: The school director accused of having an affair with a 14-year-old student has told police he will surrender on Jan 31, Bua Yai police chief Pol Col Kharom Boonsod said on Sunday.

Pol Col Kharom said Nathaphop Boonthongtho, 51, director of Wat Ban Patong Tha Neon Samakkhee School in Bua Yai district, had contacted Bua Yai police investigators, saying that he would report to the police on Wednesday. However, the director had not given an exact time for the surrender.

Mr Nathaphop has been accused of having an affair with a female Mathayom Suksa 2 (Grade 8) student at the school. He was summonsed to hear the sexual abuse charges filed by the mother of an ex-boyfriend of the girl, but failed to show up.

Pol Col Kharom said he would guarantee justice for all concerned in the case.

As for another case filed against Mr Nathaphop by the parents of another Mathayom Suksa 2 (Grade 8) girl student, 13, accusing him of sexual harassment of their daughter, Pol Col Kharom said police investigators had interviewed a number of witnesses, including the student and her parents.

He expected the investigation into the new case would be concluded this week.

I read that he paid the 12yr old's family 200k and THEY dropped the charges.

Now hang on if it is a criminal offense isn't it the job of the police to lay charges or did they get a payment as well.

Commentary in the BKK Post suggested the Ed officials who transferred him to the new school should also be facing criminal charges.

Of course it is. In a perverse way, the parents should also be facing charges for accepting money to withdraw charges (effectively condoning the crime), and the pedo director facing briberyand human trafficking charges.
Money talks, even when it involves selling your daughter.

Thai devious logic: No formal charges made, no conviction, therefore he has no criminal record, thus he can still teach children. Ed officials will be teflon.
