BANGKOK, 21 December 2016 (NNT) – The State Railway of Thailand (SRT) will provide 244 train trips with additional carriages to accommodate some 100,000 passengers daily during New Year season.

SRT Governor Wuthichart Kalyanamitra said the SRT will provide additional train trips to accommodate an increased number of passengers during the New Year holidays from 29 December 2016 to 4 January 2017.

Twenty trains will cover the 244 daily journeys during the long holiday with more carriages added to regular and rapid trains to accommodate 100,000-110,000 passengers daily.

Transport Company to provide more bus trips for New Year travelers

BANGKOK, 22 December 2016 (NNT) – Transport Company plans to run 9,000 bus trips daily during New Year season to accommodate as many as 200,000 travelers per day.

Acting Transport Company president Amnat Unardngam said the firm has planned to provide 9,000 bus trips daily from 29 December 2016 to 4 January 2017, compared to 7,200 trips daily in normal times.

As many as 180,000-200,000 bus passengers are expected daily during 20-30 December.

Tickets for all bus routes during the New Year holidays have already been sold out but passengers can purchase tickets for extra buses at Bangkok's Mo Chit 2 bus terminal.

Buses to northern and northeastern destinations will be available outside the headquarters of the Department of Land Transport during 28-30 December to relieve congestion at the Bangkok bus terminal. A free shuttle bus to the department will be provided outside the bus terminal.
