Being a go-go bar owner in Thailand has to be a really tough way of earning a buck. RIP.

BLOW - Wind Tunnel - Bangkok, Thailand

Sadly Darel never got to see his 2008 dream come to fruition. A wind tunnel business.

I would hate to be up top the tunnel when the power went out, or whatever...The fall might be similar...

    Sorry for Darel, regardless...RIP, man...

It's an interesting walk during the day...Amazing what a little neon and pedestrian traffic will do, accompanied by the music and criers...

I would say a BJ parlour would be the bottom floor...Some on here fully understand that...

    You know who you are...

Stickman was writing about him in his column last Sunday. It looks like in the end poor Darel had completely lost the plot

Surely the darkness embellishes soi cowboy's attractions best.

Met and had many an afternoon chatting with Darel when he and Andy opened up the Doll house in Clinton Plaza. Likeable sort to be around. Haven't seen him since Clinton Plaza disappeared but not surprised he succumbed, as have many, to the occupational hazard of owning a bar here.

    Tough way to go. RIP.

and thats probably one of the most depressing truths posted on this forum, and it has nothing to do with puritanism, but everything to do with freedom.

    Might be.
It's difficult to run such a particular business as this in the best of times anyway.

    Too many problems arise.
Best have the right temperament and local business savvy.

The hours are long and during high season the pace can be quite hectic. Usually, such drink staff don't fuck the clients for dosh.

I wouldn't say the girls serving in these brothel bars are any less or more accomplished than some of the planks one usually encounters elsewhere in ordinary pubs here.

Though it is typical of this seedy and rather louche country that a farang pimp selling sex and addicted to cocaine/alcohol should be described as " colourful ".

Just another sleazeball septic meeting his early demise through poor judgement, no doubt precipitated by his cocaine and alcohol addictions.

Is this when we wax romantically and champion this fellow by slobbering over him speculating on what a keen guy he was because he was known in Farang circles and promoted to be known to a couple of TD members.....??

Judgment of character will differ, won't it....

I'm sure the 'judgement' would be consistent if it were a Thai owner of a girly bar in Suttisan who'd decided accessing his 39th floor apartment from next door's balcony was a good idea...

I've remembered that Darel was a Denver Broncos fan..... I would think that he had been watching the Super Bowl and probably wasn't sober when returning home mid afternoon as well......

I doubt the guy's been sober in years. What's his neighbour doing letting him attempt that?

it is very common i believe for prostitutes to bear grudges against and attack their pimps should the chance arise.

But of course the real question might be:
    Who gives a shit?
    And why?

Seems he was a professional skydiver who would be accustomed to maneuvering at heights, bet the toxicology report will explain some of this, if one is done.

Wonder if he was pulling at a rip cord that wasn't there on the way down?
