What are you talking about "National carpet bombing"?

What are a writer's words worth anywhere? How much notice is taken of them? Clearly there's no single answer. It varies with the words, the writers, the topic, the audience, the time and the place, etc, etc.

(BTW, the so-called "Islamic State" and the Islamic world are two different things.)

The other issues you want to discuss would be better discussed in another thread. This one perhaps: https://teakdoor.com/speakers-corner/...-rid-isis.html (What Will It Take To Get Rid Of ISIS?)
The author in the OP article, Ms Anwar writes ,"Enough hand-wringing and talking. Show us the beef."

With her words she is seeking ACTION by Governemnets ---not the same BS currently spewed by Govt authorities of Islamic nations.

She is seeking for the Govts to take the necessary ACTION required against said clerics and schools that indoctrinate the fundamentalists towards the takeover of the Islamic religion by terrorism.

Very good. The government is taking action. There have been some troubles in the states of Sabah and Sarawak with Muslim teachers being chucked out - back to the mainland - because they were prosletysing.

Hudud law is being disparaged by most people, Muslim and non-Muslim . . . and that is significant as it is supposed to be 'God's Law' and therefore adhered to. Not being implemented.

Many other examples . . . but also examples of where Islam is treading where it shouldn't. Whenever it crosses over to Christians then there is a blizzard of anger and the idiots pull their heads in again

Fine if Indonesia begins to reign in its proselytizing fundamentalists.

Indonesia has approx 200 Million followers of Islam that account for 12% of Muslims worldwide.

How are the other nations who account for the remaining 88% of Muslims coming along reigning in their problem proselytizers ?

    Correct. Thank you for clarification.

Malaysia's population of 30 Million with approx 61% followers of Islam.

Glad to hear that a Govt is trying to control the fundamentalist pros.

It would have really been a warm-feeling to read that Indonesia had taken those further steps.

The government here is very moderate - even their brand of Isla is very moderate, but you get the odd flame-throwing NGO going too far like confiscating a bunch of bibles because they are in Malay and contain the word 'Allah' as the word for the Christian God.
They were reprimanded and had to return the bibles.

And Vietnam itself, of course. Napalm, Agent Orange, Search&Destroy, Bodycount.... but let's not look at the deeds of the great World Defender and Liberator.

After all, this thread is about Muslims decrying extremism - or was it about our resident experts in the field telling everybody once more how evil the Koran is and that all Muslims are terrorists if they are real Muslims?

    Currently - Iraq and Afghanistan.

Previously - a ridiculous amount of small and vulnerable countries.

    Cool just an observation

I recalled foreign secretary Douglas Hurd declaring that Britain should aim to 'punch above its weight in the world.'

Seriously, Mr Cameron had been almost absent in dealing with Russian aggression towards Ukraine leaving Mrs Merkel and Mr Hollande to deal with Mr Putin on that situation 1,300 miles from 11 Downing Street.

Once a mighty power, where exactly does Great Britain stand on human rights , terrorism and international law ?

Is "Little Britain" just a shrinking actor on the global stage ?

(Written as an observation by a friend residing in Hong Kong.)
    No offense intended, of course.

Why don't you start a new thread and ask those excellent questions with your "friend's" observations (the Economist) that have nothing at all to do with this thread?

    Mods?

Good one, Pee Coffee. The moderation here is a lottery - or as Forrest Gump would say, like a box of chocolates.
