Sign of the times. Many publications now rehash agency stuff. Maintaining quality stringers, bureaux or heavy weight commentators in foreign fields has long since gone. Economics dictate savings on costs over good copy. Any story concerning Brits abroad will have " legs " but they'll go off the boil unless the story is revitalised to pique further interest.
Facebook, the blogosphere, Twitter is the medium and that is all to do with the immediate.
If this story is to last it requires input from the victims' families in the UK, public opinion and from celebrities. If sufficient groundswell is created then politicians want a piece of the action. Isn't going to happen in my view. Who wins the latest Great British Bake Off is more important.
