Russians trapped in Pattaya following collapse of Tour Company

More Russian mishaps... Shouldn't bring a smile to my face but it does.

Russians trapped in Pattaya following collapse of Tour Company | Pattaya One - Pattaya News, Thailand News, World News, updated 24 hours a day

Following the collapse of a well-known Russian Tour Company, more than a hundred Russian Tourists are now stranded in Pattaya as their return air tickets and hotels they were staying at have not been paid. The Lanta-Tour Company, which was established in 1991 and was one of the largest tour operators in Russia, filed for bankruptcy on 28th January. Many of their customers were staying at the Ambassador City Hotel in Jomtien and Town-in-Town Hotel in Central Pattaya who both filed a Police Report at Banglamung Police Station on Sunday against Lanta-Tour Thai Co Ltd, which is located at the Wonderland Estate in East Pattaya. Since Saturday the Russian Embassy has been assisting the Tourists who initially had their belongings effectively seized by the Hotels who refused them access to safe-boxes until the situation had been resolved. The tourists are now being offered alterative accommodation and have purchase new tickets back to Russia where they will lodge formal complaints with the Russian authorities.

    Not at all.
I met a number of really cool Russians in Koh Samui this year.

Terrific crowd, singing, dancing, eating, drinking, mainly from Lake Baikal area.

Cheap tours, cheaper results. And here I was thinking that the only good Russian was a dead one. Guess ENT's got all the luck.

Pattaya is literally crawling with them. Old, young, parents with babies in strollers on Walking Street. Never saw such a circus! Went for a nice seafood dinner and there was Natasha & her sister at the table next to us (not bad-looking either).

Does holiday insurance cover this? (And no, not from the same company that sold you the holiday and went bust, before any TD pedant dives in ).

Harry, I gotta ask the question: Why would you take a tour company and then take out insurance against the possibility that they will not live up to their contract?

I suppose one could find insurance for almost anything, The possibility that you're dicks going to rot off in the next year is also insurable.

Oh I dunno, if these people knew the company was going to go bust, do you think they would have bought their holidays through them?

    Duh.

Ahh, another destination marketing milestone for Thailand tourism to deal with.

Now this would not have anything to do with domestic tour operators being screwed into extinction by inbound tour wholesalers would it ?? !!
Just for a change, it might be Russians and not the Chinese doing it??

Lucky you, we were in the central food court today and I spied another Natasha in that newish Russian concessions (where Yani pizza used to be) with shorts, half mast up her voluptuous arse and most of the other fabric burried up her crack - almost put me off my burger thinking of the fate of her G string!

The contract would have been between the tour company and the hotel. Still, holding an innocent tourists' passports and property hostage due to the default of a third party us standard Thai MO when foreigners are involved.

I have a spare room in my house which could probably fit 4 or 5 18-25 year old Russian women. I will contact the embassy now, and do my bit for international relations...

    Irina can stay:

    Ivanova can stay too:

& Petrovova (in her bikini if she must):

Now, what's the number of the Russian embassy???

^ Oh dear, maybe there's a problem with my plan I hadn't thought of...

Still, she never got upset when the Burmese workers trashed her herb garden, so maybe it'll be alright.

Thailand's legal so called system is frightening sometime. Could you imagine being refused access to your own property in a safety deposit box in any developed country because the hotel had a billing problem with a 3rd party?

Hopefully the Russian media will carry this part of the story and the arrogant people at that hotel will pay a price in lost business.

Some of the women are beautiful. Then you look at the men they are with and wonder "What the fuck".

Every single place we visited during our extended stay in Pattaya was packed with them. There are fewer signs or menu's in English now as well. Not just crowded but teeming with them.

It's the lower end ones that should be confined to cheap Costa del sol type resorts, not allowed to mingle with proper tourists who might just spend money and not block peoples way on pavements with their strollers and crap 'we're the new middle class and we rule the world' attitudes.

Same as fucking cheap ass Chinese and Indian tourists too.

Obviously there are proper, decent, well to do tourists from these nations but the cheapos are scaring away the 'original' tourists from the old skoool, who are there to use Pattaya for what it is, ie a whore and party town....

I mean, family resort? Bloody hell that must be confusing the hell out of the locals and whores.

In The they have ABTA which acts in the event of financial difficulties for any of it's member travel companies to get stranded travellers home.

Mind you, most of the Birts in Pattaya are of the calibre that should never have been let travel abroad in the first place.
