Nomad Su Casa serviced apartments are about a 5 minute walk to the embassy and cost about THB 2000 per night. Stayed there before. Not new but servicable and convenient.

Interested to hear more info on English Noodles trip to Thai Embassy in K/L.

I stuffed up renewing my 30 day extension after the first block of 60 days (double entry tourist visa) so was hit (extra 500bht) with a 1 day overstay. Driving to Ban Talaban/ Malaysian border in a few to activate the second leg of my double entry touris visa (60 days) then get another 30 extension at local Immigration

Question. Any one up to date on if they are still issuing double entry tourist visa's. (Am aware that double entry are not free)

Roughly in 90 days (or so) time was planning to fly to K/L to ask (and pay) for another double entry tourist visa. Will that 1 day overstay stuff my chances.

Before this I had a tourist visa in '07 before getting non B and work permit for 12 months. When contract expired expired flew back to Oz for a few weeks before coming back on this double entry tourist visa.

I they let me obtain another double entry in a few months time (in K/L) that will be three tourist visa's. Whats the talk on three being the limit or am I being confused? (easily done for me at times)
If I'm late start without me..........

I know this is a year out of date but has anything changed regarding obtaining a tourist visa?

Will KL issue a double entry?

also any recomendations of hotels in the 1,000-1,500 range near embassy??

    Thanks.

I went to KL on 10th this month

they would not issue me with a double entry tourist visa - no explanation given, just 'no'. Maybe it was just me. Got the standard 60 day TV that I will extend by another 30 to fit with my next trip away

Otherwise polite and efficient; I slept in and arrived 9.25am, a few people there I was given #15, two counters operating and was out before 10am, picked up passport the next day 2.30pm.

    There is no fee payable
I had downloaded and filled out visa form, copy of passport, 2x photos, copy of my air ticket out (am back in KL for MotoGP in Oct anyway). Previously I've never had future flight tickets, just given my Kasikorn book showing I had funds to support myself.

I had no proof of where I would be staying - just an address of a private residence; wasn't asked re this.

I stayed in Chinatown area, easy train to the station one after KLCC/Petronas Towers and 10min walk.

Nope. Everyone as far as I know.
Being a Brit, it's easy for me with a 90 day free visa on arrival.
If I left the country they just stamped my passport with another one at passport control.

IMHO you get 90 days in Malaysia, Thailand is ONLY 30 days if arrival by air and 15 by land crossing!

Thnaks; My Cambodia GF just came i last night from PP where she got her tourist visa. All they asked was a letter from me stating i was takling care of her ( i live here on a retirement extension)
so in 60 days will head to KL for her next visa as its cheaper from Phuket than back to PP.

Strange but in 24 years living in Thailand i have yet to visit KL, Loads of time in Penang yaars ago, I actually like Penang) and along the east coast but never KL.

SO, whats to do there , I have heard that a ride up the twin towers is a must but besdie that how does one kill 2 days?

Also i have heard the train is very efficent BUT whats the price compared to a taxi if there are two of us>?

Taxi is cheaper, about 60 ringit as opposed to 2 x 35.

K.L doesn't have a lot of interest but it's ok for a couple of days. China town, Batu caves, twin towers.

There is/ was an agent in Ampang Park shopping mall(right outside the MRT station ) who sorted out visas in 24 hours - at least when I lived there, but that was a while ago !

The Petronas Twin Towers - they allow a limited number people to go up to about the 40th floor walkway each day (except Monday) from 9.30am; three attempts and always too late - was told last time to be there to join the queue by 8am.

You can pay to go up the KL Tower. Can't remember the cost, it may have been 40r 400 baht each, unsure. Tourist places such as aquarium (walk from T Towers), bird/butterfly park, zoo all charge a higher rate for non-Malaysian this is clearly signposted.

Chinatown is dull in daytime, better from 6pm onwards when there are a lot more stalls. I was warned of pickpockets and fake begging Buddhist monks - kept my wallet ok and did see but didn't donate to the guys in orange, this scam has had publicity but obviously enough 'new' folk through every day.

I like the trains, last trip went to Klang, about 1hr sth-west of KL to get away for a day, see the countryside and have a curry in 'Litle India'
