those with daddy/mommy abandonment issues can feel free to post their own sob stories, but from where i sit it seems pretty callous that she's just leaving this kid for somebody else to raise.
The problem is, that argument does not fly. Its bounced right back as "sexist". If it was her husband running (for example) the issue would simply never be raised.
I knew that sexist card would come up here. But it does defintely not fly with me because I'am not one of those hypercrites.
Lets be realy honest about this. If her husband was running I would say the same thing. I'am not saying Palin stay home and cook and take care of the children. I'am saying Palin (Mr. or Mrs.) step back a bit and take BETTER care of your family. Your family needs you the most right now with a Dow Syndrom kid and a 17 year old pregnat daughter. I'am not saying give up your job, just step back. And since this family has no money problem I can only say: "Palin you are a rotten mother".
According to a poll here in Germany (I'am sure this is honest) most parents wished they could have more time for their children.
Don't we all wish this ? Let's be honest now !

Why is so little known about her daughter's Boner ?
Could it be because... under Alaska law, having sex with a 17 year old is statutory RAPE.

    interesting point herman.

apparently her thirst for power trumps everything....including the well being of her children....both the developmentally challenged newborn and knocked-up teenage ho.

There are only 2 choices for PRESIDENT Obama and McCain, they in turn have chosen 2 other candidates to run with as their VP..
those 2 candidates are going to play very different roles in the office should they get in, due to Obama's lack of experience his VP is going to play a far larger role in advisory influence and he was not even selected by HIS own party to even make it into the semifinals not once but twice and this is the man that you want to be making serious foreign policy suggestions to his younger less experienced President? ..all of his rock star status in Europe in the real world is going to have little to do with Obama, you should realize this it is going to be based more on what Biden recommends..your being very naive if you think otherwise..

on the other hand we have a relatively inexperienced VP candidate just as it should be, in sequence, being second and all that, with a rare hypothetical possibility that she might become the President and it being far less likely that she is going to have much influence at all on presidential decisions in her term.

Then there is all of the balances that would be keeping her in check as it were and advisers that would be helping her in such a case (just as they will be for Obama from the git go in his starring role). coupled with the fact that washington changes peoples perceptions, so her current views and policies might possibly change just as they did when she made the decision on the "bridge to nowhere". so lets not read too much into her being SECOND in command. that's the reality..

That has to be the most disingenuous post yet . . . the discussion is about Palin, and what parallels do you draw between the two women?
Isn't being able to concentrate on a one's job important? I just look at how much time my wife and I have to take off work to tend to the girls, even though we have a nanny.

Before we had children our work-related efforts were far greater than they are now.

You call that a sexist comment, but it is real, it is realistic and it is a potential problem.

You can't just sweep it under the rug and pretend it doesn't exist . . . honestly, I am a bit surprised that she accepted the nomination with so many things going on in her life. When 'Charley' asked her her reaction about being offered the job, her answer was that she didn't hesitate one instant (paraphrasing) . . . not one instant to think about her family?

Kudos to her if she can manage, all strength to her.

I know I couldn't, nor could my wife, family commitments are paramount. But then I have never been asked to help lead the free world.

    drivingforce:
rare hypothetical possibility that she might become the President
    Remote? Hypothetical? Possibility?

True, she won't become the next president . . . but it is not a remotely hypothetical possibility that she may become the one after next if McCain gets elected.

    Quite right. Not he next.

share those sentiments..... you know not how much.... and there is some truth to this thinking, but for me it isn't any more relative to this debate than the dismissal of Clintons white house romp with monica is in the eyes of clinton lovers..as it is her personal life and maybe she has that much confidence in her support system..

are you referring to IF McCain dies in office or post his admin in the next election? if the latter, there is obviously a voting process to determine that..and if not it's all still hypothetical..but what is guaranteed is having a president with no experience if Obama is elected a much more alarming scenerio for my taste..

You know, some people focus on what is being said rather than who says it and can agree across partisan lines. A new concept for you?

not especially since I don't have any partisan lines..just going along with what he said but maybe you didn't read that through fully again, just like you failed to do in the 911 thread..

Sure we all wish we had more time with our children.

But if McCain wins and Palin get the VP slot, for at least the next four years her children will have care availible to them far better than the vast majority of the rest of the US. This is especially true for her youngest child. Special needs children can rarely get all the attention they need from their parents. Most benifit greatly (if the parents can afford it) from extra care providers.

Nope, sorry. I strongly disagree. Though we have a nanny, we always take complete charge when we are not at work. Parents are more important than child psychologists, certified pedagogues and the like.

There is no substitute for parenting by parents.

Palin's per diem's for working from home were an issue I ddn't comment on simply because I believe she did so to be with her family, i.e. children = good for her.

This, however, is something she cannot do if she is VP or even Prez.

Is it fair that women are judged to be the primary child-carers . . . ask them, they would say yes with a great majority. Definitely nothing to be ashamed of, something to be proud of.

Dare say her husband will be running the family situation once Palin becomes VP, since he obviously won't be working in Alaska anymore. So in reality I don't find this any different - woman will be the fulltime provider and the man will be the house husband. Mind you - dare say they will have plenty of help in the VP home from staffers ect. In reality life will probably get easier for the family, not harder. So I don't think having 5 children has any relevence to this discussion or bearing on her being VP. Any rate - 1 is off to Iraq, - two others are independent (old enough), and reality only small baby and her youngest daughter will need the attention.

Oh, I see. A nameless Palin aid in Alaska mistakenly said Iraq was one of her stops. Stop the election! Bring out the special prosecutor! This scandal must not go uninvestigated!

It won’t come as a surprise but Charlie Gibson’s interview with Sarah Palin was heavily edited by ABC News to make Palin appear more hawkish and less knowledgeable. Mark Levin has the complete transcript, and what ABC News tried to pull here is a textbook example of the Lamestream Media: Gibson Interview.

unfortuntely the double standard is, just that, and both ways i'm afraid..

just curious does anyone here wonder what is going to happen to Barracks daughters while he is the pres? I guess the future requirement should be only non-parents or old geezers in the white house..

as memory serves me they are actually the only ones in this race that have already had marriage instability issues due to his aspirations and Michele's feeling slighted by them..
