Godfather is a kunt, yet very professional
Captain America is fucking priceless, got to be taken from a real character

"if this series was on mainstream TV in the US, they would be revolt in the streets, or worse the series would be banned from every network"
What a fucking idiot, HBO IS AN AMERICAN MAINSTREAM NETWORK.
Well, it's a pay service, but I agree, almost everybody has it.
We're rich like that. But don't tell Butterfly. The big difference is that most Americans know Hollowood is make-believe. Pretend.
^^ it's a fucking private paid-for network,
are you that stupid ? not every home in America have it, and it's not national TV like CBS, ABC, and NBC
fucking tool,
250millions subscribers ? don't think so, last time I check it was more like 15 million including Hotels etc...Originally Posted by Texpat

i thought it was a very objective look at the early days of the invasion.war.
it was adapted from the embedded reporters book (in turn made up of his rolling stone articles) and it's clear that he genuinely liked the soldiers.

^^
What a fuckwit, god you are stupid. You claim America would not allow this to be shown and yet it was produced and aired by a major American network.
Ok, fumble around and try to justify your idiotic statement, but it was completely stupid and wrong (which is par for the course for lefties on TD)
they all are.Originally Posted by Butterfly

Forty million HBO subscribers as of Dec 31.
Time Warner: HBO. Home Box Office.
If the average household is 2.59, that's more than 100 mil. people.

Private network are not subject to the same compliance protocol of national TV, they have greater liberty. For example, you can't say "fuck" on National TV (mainstream TV) but you can on a private network (cable + SAT)Originally Posted by Accidental Ajarn
Something like that on National TV with a mainstream audience (the largest in the US) would create too many political conflicts for advertisers, sponsors and management and would likely be killed before it even reached the air.
jesus, what a tool you are !!!
how many hotels would that be then ?Originally Posted by Texpat
anyway 40m subscribers is hardly "mostly everyone"
got to be, so I guess the 6 episodes actually depict what happened during the invasion,Originally Posted by ChiangMai noon

Fuckwit, do you really think the American government censors TV for political reasons?
God, your hatred of America has blinded you and made you into a blithering fool.
HBO probably is watched as much as CBS, ABC or FOX
down to the dialogue if the articles/book is to be believed.Originally Posted by Butterfly

AA, Butterfly,
Will you guys please ramp up the invective a bit. You are both being far too nice to each other. It's getting boring.

"got to be, so I guess the 6 episodes actually depict what happened during the invasion"
Fucking idiot, one person's personal view, not what "actually" happened.
I haven't seen the show, but Hollywood has a long-history of making films that are critical of the US Armed forces, and many of these movies are quite good in my opinion. Others are crap, but either way it is still entertainment, not "facts".
Anyone getting their "facts" from HBO can not be taken seriously. Complete idiot.
it isn't though.Originally Posted by Accidental Ajarn

you should read/watch it.
very good and as I said, neither anti or pro war.
left me feeling a lot more for the troops than I had previously.
apparently it's facts, the embedded reporter describe the story as it happened,Originally Posted by Accidental Ajarn

Wiki sez:
The original Al Jazeera channel is available worldwide through various satellite and cable systems. In the U.S., it is available through subscription satellite and Free to Air DVB-S on the Galaxy-25 satellite. Al Jazeera can also be freely viewed with a DVB-S receiver in Europe, Northern Africa, and the Middle East as it is broadcast on the Astra and Hot Bird satellites. In the UK, it is available on Sky platform.

You can also read the print edition online.
Not only is al-Jazeera available in the US, they've had a Washington bureau since 2006.

Ha ha, so it appears that although it isn't the government per se doing it, Al Jazeera is effectively denied access to US airtime. Thats how censorship is run in the west. Everyone pays lip service to all the precepts of freedom of speech, but when a news channel actually carries something different, all the institutions magically find ways of not allowing them access.
Now lets have another vicious tongued ripost from AA. Are you listening out there Accidental Asshole?
^ Maybe they has more airtime now, my thoughts date back to the time opf the linked article in 2007. I had the channel on my tv at the time and remember it being promoted in the west as bing run by "muslim nutters" but the reality was it was a pretty damn good news outfit. Much more balanced than several of the offerings put out in yurp and the US.
True. I recently read a book by Lt Fick (the leader of the unit with whom the Rolling Stones journalist was embedded) about his experiences during the same time. Excellent read.
