    How sad.
Despite the Belgian's attitude, I wouldn't be surprised if the highest levels have conspired to force a deal that is so bad it must either be rejected with terrible consequences, or if accepted has the EU holding all the cards indefinitely with UK as a broke and powerless vassal; either way, with a second referendum by hook and crook and whatever other means, which would leave an almighty political and legal quagmire for a decade or more, and which the people are likely to vote Remain simply out of fear and fatigue.

They don't want us out, but if we are to leave then it will be on their terms which effectively means castration. Our mates, eh?

But that's the whole point, there are no demerits to remaining except in the minds of the stupid, the credulously ignorant and the deluded who swallowed Kipper bilge hook, line and sinker. Now, after two years of having the bleeding obvious shoved down your throats you fucking morons finally realise that quitting the largest most successful and democratic trading bloc in the world is fucking stupid with absolutely no advantage whatsoever. The world is a fucking cesspit of polarised blocs fucking everyone else over to gain an advantage, why would you leave one which you helped to create, where you were a top dog and one which shares your cultural origins and values, your beliefs and ethnicity. Brexit was just so fucking dumb, why the fuck did you think just about every established global orthodoxy, from economic pundits to international state fora, from global industrialists to market traders, conclude that Britain leaving the EU was imbecilic?
economic pundits have rarely if ever been able to correctly predict the outcomes of trading or market decisions, the variables and uncertainties associated with the science of economics ensures that punditry is pure guesswork.

the eu itself the worlds largest fucking cesspit of polarised opinion, status, abilities and influence, each seeking to gain advantage over other members. europe, since the beginning of history has been like that and over the next few years, the fracture lines that are opening up, thanks to the dominance of the all powerful germans, the profligacy of the southern states and the delinquency of the eastern states will undoubtedly ensure that the discord becomes more and more destructive. the one size fits all ethos of the eu has been shown to be a terrible mistake, and the brussels derived patch ups will eventually end in tears, resulting in the very thing that the eu was set up to avoid ..... mass youth unemployment, (already 31% in italy, 43% in greece, 33% in spain, and 20% in france , compared to 11% in the uk..... may 2018 figures) the resurgence of right wing politics, the sort of right wing extremes that could never and will never take hold in the uk.

we are better of out of their clutches, and although this deal is far from perfect, it will, if it gets through, put an end for the time being of the bickering that has divided the uk, it will unbolt and open the exit door for us, a door that can and will be opened wider and wider over the next few years. it will take a long time, 45 years of becoming tangled up in their regulatory systems cannot be undone in one go.

its a long game. the uk will benefit from it, teresa may knows it and is at last, having got rid of raab et al, playing the game like a true champ, if only her stupid thoughtless selfish colleagues could see it.

you short termers need to understand the long game, even palmerston, the f.o. mouser can see that.

They are the only choices available. May saying Brexit means Brexit and keeping U.K. in with no vote and all the costs and future recriminations when the E.U. fails. That just plain stupid and not covered by any referendum.

She will be told to poke it, by her own parliament and by the E.U. hopefully.
Ditto, only two choices, both disasters but better than the draft. That said, I confess to being less than fluent with the intricate details, unlike our two gracious cheerleaders.

absolutely Tax, and you do raise valid points about the EU problems and the one-size-fits-all model

hopefully Brexit will give wings for us to get rid of other non-core EU members,

and Brexit means one Pain-in-the-ass member trying to sabotage everything will no longer have any say in core EU business

the eu is on a one way street to self immolation, if you french want to cosy up with the germans then so be it, and in 30 years time the cry will be "let them eat sauerkraut" after you have been completely overwhelmed by them.

if you want to know the future, then look at the past.

Not crying, just very concerned that we're being stabbed in the eye by our so-called friends; it's usually the back that lowlifes aim for.

And I won't be around in 30 years, but well within that period deal or no deal, in or out makes little to zero difference since by then the EU will cease to exist resulting in the 'interesting times' decent people should wish to avoid.

your Queen is married to a Kraut, whose sisters were spouses of high ranking SS generals

so stop lecturing us about the past,

and France and Germany have made their peace, thankfully. Everyone lost in those stupid wars. No point. The EU project was built around this vision of uniting nations with their economic interests.

UK was always the oddball, a former Empire, falling apart, trying to sabotage the new promising bloc

now you can go back to being you miserable self, and nobody will regret your exit in the EU, I can tell you that

Spot on; let's have a Union to prevent the next German attempt to dominate Europe through war, and in the process allow Germany to dominate Europe through peace. Not the smartest.

stop projecting as an excuse for your failure to integrate with the rest of the boys, you just sound bitter and butthurt

you were never our friends, you are fooking islanders, moaning and bitching all the time, miserable company to be had, you were "tolerated" in the EU, but even that you fuck it up, so no regret

what on earth has that got to do with anything?

UK was always the oddball, a former Empire, falling apart, trying to sabotage the new promising bloc
we are island people, and islanders are always different to mainlanders. we are not sabotaging your "promising" new bloc, you are doing a perfectly good job of that without our help, we are trying to escape the inevitable carnage but you wont let us!

what happened to the french empire? ..... aaah yes. the algerians, at least the ones left alive after the french army stopped their shooting and torturing them , they all moved to france where they cant get work but in their free time mow people down with cars on the pavements and shoot them up in nightclubs.

and the english have embraced their former empire in the friendly embrace of the commonwealth.

Brexit: May says EU will not offer 'better deal' if agreement rejected

    https://www.bbc.com/news/uk-politics-46312909

Theresa May has said the UK should not hope for a "better deal" from the EU if MPs reject her Brexit agreement.

She told a BBC phone-in that there would be just "more division and uncertainty" if Parliament voted against the agreement next month.

But she declined to say whether the UK would be better off outside the EU, saying only it would be "different".

A summit of EU leaders to sign off the deal will go ahead on Sunday despite "unresolved" issues over Gibraltar.
