Can anyone explain why there is an exit wound out of JFK's throat, but he was also shot in the head? Has anyone dabbled and read up on this?

Also in the video of him in Dallas that day, he grabs his throat, and Jackie looks at him and move closer, THEN, the bullet hits him in the head.

Great thread Milkman but you know and I know that the answer may never be known and as the years go by and those that know what happened pass away.

One thing about the Americans and that is they certainly know how to keep a secret.

You probably could fill a foolscap page with major and minor events of public interest that the public will never be informed about (well about the exact truth anyway).

Yes, at 17 secs it does appear something happened and his head did drop. The way the woman looked at him before his head was shot says something was wrong.

Here's the controversy: it was clearly established (even the Warren Commission agreed ) that Lee Harvey Oswald could have only gotten off 3 shots with his bolt action rifle. To any rational, objective student of this crime, there were at least five shots: Kennedy was shot 3 times: once in the throat, once in the upper back and a third shot that splattered his head. Texas Governor John Connally was shot in the back by a bullet #4, which could not have been from the ones that hit Kennedy. Bullet #5 missed and hit the curb. Since there were five shots, there must have been a 2nd assassin. If you piece together the Zapruder film, autopsy photos and eyewitness testimony, it all becomes very clear that this was a whitewash. (The Warren Commission concluded that bullets #1, #2 and #4 were the same bullet, hence the term 'magic bullet theory.)

There have been a number of good books that shred the official Warren Commission and offer lots of fascinating info. Old classics include Rush To Judgment by Mark Lane, Crossfire by Jim Marrs, and High Treason by Livingstone and Groden. Written in 1968, the impassioned Farewell America by Hepburn and Turner has input from foreign intelligence sources. One of the most fascinating books, Regicide, was written by historian Gregory Douglas, who was fed information and documents by dying intelligence agent Robert Crowley. Finally, a book I haven't read but one that has gotten good reviews is Murder In Dealey Plaza by James Feltzer. (Unless you want to waste your money on crap research, stay away from Cased Closed by Gerald Posner. Even the 'incriminating' photo of Oswald on the original cover is doctored, the shadow under Oswald's nose being inconsistent with the shadow cast by his body.)

If you're interested in the forensics of the case and the throat wound, try Trauma Room One, by Dr. Charles Crenshaw, who treated the dying Kennedy. Here's what Crenshaw said, which seems pretty conclusive: "The wounds to Kennedy’s head and throat that I examined were caused by bullets that struck him from the front, not the back, as the public has been led to believe." (Dr. Charles Crenshaw, who treated JFK in the Parkland Hospital emergency room).

Sounds more like a Boomarang bullet.

If you look at the distance from the book depository and Kennedy you would need to be a well seasoned sniper especially getting 2 good headshots, Oswald does not come anywhere near this skill,

Bobby Kennedy,s death is similar for the same reasons, the bullet,s trajectories that killed him do not correspond to the apparent killers position.

John F. Kennedy stood up to the Soviets, the Mafia, the Israelis and his own military industrial complex. He would have lived a lot longer if he was just another 'establishment whore', as you put it. Have you ever seen videos of his speeches or press conferences? The man had more courage, vision, wit, intelligence and class than you could ever dream of having.

Libra is one of the earliest novels to draw together the complicated strands of those involved in the assassination and create a story that gets as close to the truth as is possible. Delillo is one of Americas best contemporary authors, and this is one of my favorite books. This was credited as 'the book that shook the American psyche', well worth getting it if you can, it's a cracking read.

James Ellroy - The Cold Six Thousand another great book that follows the assassination, a lot of the same characters but from a different perspective, actually I'd read this one first and then Libra after, as I have done myself. Ellroys novel rides on the periphery and the atmosphere of the times, whereas DeLillo's novel focuses right at the heart of the characters most closely associated with the assasination.



The thing with both these books is they are works of fiction, but only as far as the narrative goes, the characters are real and their asssociation to each other factual.
The truth will never be completely known, but books like these give us a most likely scenario, that they are written by the best American authors means they are wonderfully composed, utterly convincing and leave a lasting impression.
