President-elect Donald Trump was very clear: “I will appoint a team to give me a plan within 90 days of taking office,” he said in January, after getting a U.S. intelligence assessment of Russian interference in last year’s elections and promising to address cybersecurity.

Thursday, Trump hits his 90-day mark. There is no team, there is no plan, and there is no clear answer from the White House on who would even be working on what.

so not only isn't there a plan...he hasn't even selected the people to create the plan.

    who's surprised?

ok, i don't know if this chaffetz news has anything to do with the topic of this thread, but something weird is going on with him.

he just released a statement that he might resign before the end of his term.

    OK...

this seems to be coming from louise mensch, a former british parliamentarian, who has a flair for the conspiratorial. however, she has been right on a few things recently...including the FISA warrants.

anyway, she says the russians have dirt on chaffetz and have been blackmailing him....essentially, "don't allow anything negative to come out during your committee's trump/russia investigation or we'll release the dirt we have on you". she also says the FBI is aware of this and it is an active investigation.

if true, and i'm not saying it is, this would be an immensely huge story that would bring DC to a fcuking legislative standstill for the foreseeable future.

That came off the Palmer Report site as Neverna pointed out. Not sure about the source.

See the post directly above. Mensch was the source on the Palmer Report article.

Exxon Seeks U.S. Waiver to Resume Russia Oil Venture

Exxon Mobil applied to Treasury for exemption to resume venture with Rosneft forged in 2012 by Rex Tillerson

Exxon Mobil Corp. has applied to the Treasury Department for a waiver from U.S. sanctions on Russia in a bid to resume its joint venture with state oil giant PAO Rosneft, according to people familiar with the matter. Exxon has been seeking U.S. permission to drill with Rosneft in several areas banned by sanctions and renewed a push for approval in March, shortly after its most recent chief executive, Rex Tillerson, became secretary of state on Feb. 1, according to one of these people. The company originally applied for a waiver to gain access to the Black Sea in July 2015 but its application wasn’t approved, the person said.

^That's why Putin wanted Trump to win and why Tillerson was appointed Secretary of State. Tillerson can approve the waiver.

Be interesting to see if they get their exemption. The proof is in the pudding as they say.

Exclusive: Putin-linked think tank drew up plan to sway 2016 U.S. election - documents

A Russian government think tank controlled by Vladimir Putin developed a plan to swing the 2016 U.S. presidential election to Donald Trump and undermine voters’ faith in the American electoral system, three current and four former U.S. officials told Reuters.

They described two confidential documents from the think tank as providing the framework and rationale for what U.S. intelligence agencies have concluded was an intensive effort by Russia to interfere with the Nov. 8 election. U.S. intelligence officials acquired the documents, which were prepared by the Moscow-based Russian Institute for Strategic Studies [en.riss.ru/], after the election.

The institute is run by retired senior Russian foreign intelligence officials appointed by Putin’s office.

Oh don't worry, Tillerson will recuse himself from this one.

I mean there's no way Russia has any sway over that decision, eh?

Funny you never show the same skepticism about the other more absurd conspiracy theories floating around here on TD.

The other crackpot theories TD are mostly circular arguments propagated by the terminally bored and mentally challenged, none of which are likely to involve nuclear conflict as an outcome.

Have you come here to discuss or to add yet more witless verbal garbage..

    Question:

Do you think the US electorate has lost faith in the US electoral system because of Russian influence.?

    Question:

    Do you think that..

three current and four former U.S. officials
    and...

    two confidential documents
constitute hard evidence or inflammatory propaganda.?

as it stands, the FBI and NSA have made it clear the russians interfered with the election and their investigations are ongoing.

    and let's not forget...

trump fired his former nsa director for not being honest about his ties to russia
trump's attorney general lied to congress about meeting with russians

and then there are the very shady actions of former campaign chair paul manafort and foreign policy adviser carter page.

anything and everything related to trump and russia deserves a very close look....this web of scandals is not something that can be simply dismissed out of hand.

Your only motivation seem to be about destablizing Trump, a bit desperate, as there are plenty of better topics he could be attacked on

no wonder he is crushing all his ennemies and opponents, they are too busy being personally involved with their hate of him

do like me, love him, and stay focus on topics that matters, like the destruction of evil influence in Washington politics

you are barking at trees, addressing only the weak topics because you think you have "him" there, but you actually don't

like I said, keep your energy on topics that really matters, commenting on all his tweets or press conf fuck ups is not adding to the debate

I stay clear of those noises because they are pointless and are silly noises

Choose a subject. His healthcare failure? His incoherent bluster on North Korea? His complete reversal on Syria? The wall that he now wants American taxpayers to fund? Golf and his endless time on vacation? His hypocritical agenda to line the pockets of the rich?
