More on the Trump Jr-Julian Assange connection.

WikiLeaks Set Off an Attack on Our Trump-Russia Project—Right After Messaging Donald Trump Jr. About It

On Monday, The Atlantic published private messages from September 2016 in which WikiLeaks gave Donald Trump Jr. the password to a forthcoming site documenting his father’s ties to Russia. But there was more to the story of WikiLeaks’ apparent effort to conspire with the Trump campaign against PutinTrump.org—and I had a front-row seat to it, as editorial director of the site. Within just minutes of reaching out to Trump Jr., WikiLeaks also publicized the password, setting off a wave of online harassment, email bombs, and personal threats against people behind the site.

    Here’s the deeper story.

I'll add that it was Mother Jones who first got hands on the Steele Dossier last year.

Did the Feds Flip Turkish Businessman Reza Zarrab—and Could He Bring Down Michael Flynn?

A man who may be part of special counsel Robert Mueller’s probe of alleged misdoings by President Donald Trump’s campaign and administration was secretly removed from a federal prison this month.

Mueller is reportedly looking at a December meeting blocks from Trump Tower where Michael Flynn—shortly before Trump became president and named him national security adviser—was reportedly offered upward of $15 million if he could help Turkey win the extradition of cleric Fethullah Gülen as well as the release of gold trader Reza Zarrab.

Now it appears Zarrab, whose trial for allegedly cheating U.S. sanctions by facilitating gold-for-gas deals between Turkey and Iran is scheduled to begin in just days, may be working with federal prosecutors.

Mueller subpoenaed Trump campaign for Russia documents: report

Special counsel Robert Mueller’s investigators have issued a subpoena to President Trump’s election campaign for documents related to Russia, according to a new report.

The Wall Street Journal reports that Mueller’s team issued the subpoena in mid-October, requesting documents and emails from over a dozen top campaign officials that include several keywords related to Russia.

A source familiar with the matter told the Journal that the subpoena would not compel testimony before a grand jury, but that Trump’s campaign was surprised by the order after voluntarily cooperating with previous requests from Mueller’s team.

Trump’s campaign began turning over documents to Mueller in September, with one lawyer that represents Trump saying the campaign was in “total cooperation” with the special counsel’s investigation into Russian interference in the 2016 election.

The subpoena marks the first time Trump’s campaign has been ordered to turn over information to Mueller’s investigation. Mueller has previously subpoenaed former Trump campaign chairman Paul Manafort and several of his associates, as well as subpoenaing several banks to obtain Manafort’s financial records.

In late October, Manafort was charged with multiple counts, including conspiracy against the United States and money laundering related to his work for a pro-Russia political party in Ukraine. His former business associate, Richard Gates, was also indicted.

It was also announced in late October that former Trump campaign adviser George Papadopoulos pleaded guilty earlier that month to lying to FBI agents about his contacts with Russian officials.

Kushner failed to disclose emails about Wikileaks & Russia

Jared Kushner received emails in September 2016 about WikiLeaks and about a “Russian backdoor overture and dinner invite” and forwarded them to another campaign official, according to a letter to his attorney from the bipartisan leaders of the Senate Judiciary Committee.
Committee Chairman Chuck Grassley (R-Iowa) and ranking member Sen. Dianne Feinstein (D-Calif.) said Kushner failed to turn over the relevant documents when they asked for them last month.

Congressional aides may have answers on pro-Russia GOP platform change

Paul Ryan's chief of staff would not confirm or deny whether he has been contacted by special counsel Robert Mueller about how a Ukraine-related provision was killed at the 2016 GOP convention.

As U.S. investigators probe whether President Donald Trump's campaign orchestrated a Russia-friendly change to the Republican Party platform last summer, three senior Capitol Hill aides — including Speaker Paul Ryan's chief of staff — may have answers about how the episode unfolded. The three staffers, who have not been accused of any wrongdoing, advised the GOP convention's platform committee on foreign policy matters and had front-row seats when a low-profile group of delegates, acting in conjunction with Trump campaign officials, spiked a proposal urging a tougher U.S. policy against Russian aggression in Ukraine.

That change has drawn scrutiny from the House and Senate intelligence committees as they investigate whether any Trump campaign officials cooperated with Russian meddling in the 2016 election. Some witnesses say they expect it to become a topic of interest in special counsel Robert Mueller’s parallel criminal probe.

Will be interesting to hear about change in the Republican platform last year from the staffers. It could be directly connected to Manafort.

This is all painfully slow in unfolding.

More Russia Bombshells To Drop As Mueller Is Pursuing Meeting And Contacts Unknown To The Public

    The Washington Post reported:

Mueller’s investigators are also still actively mapping out all the attempts by Russian nationals and people with ties to Russian President Vladi[at]mir Putin’s government to connect with and possibly infiltrate the Trump campaign. So far, at least nine people in Trump’s orbit had contact with Russians during the campaign or the transition to the White House, according to Mueller’s charging documents and interviews and records obtained by The Washington Post.

Witnesses questioned by Mueller’s team warn that investigators are asking about other foreign contacts and meetings that have not yet become public, and to expect a series of new revelations. Investigators are especially focused on foreign officials’ contacts with Michael Flynn, a campaign adviser and later Trump’s national security adviser, witnesses said.

The White House should be terrified, but the President appears to be too arrogant to understand what is happening. Robert Mueller is doing a criminal sweep of his campaign and finances. This investigation is not going away anytime soon. In fact, it is going to get much worse for Donald Trump.

Flynn, Donald Trump Jr., and Jared Kushner look like three central targets of the investigation. The Russia probe is going to reach Trump’s White House. There is a good possibility that someone close to the president or even a member of his own family gets charged.

The Mueller investigation is heating up, so the American people should get ready for a winter of bombshells that will rock the Trump administration.

Ex-Fox News Employee Says She Was Blocked From Investigating Trump-Russia Ties

A former Fox News employee said the network blocked her from going to Moscow to investigate President Donald Trump’s links with Russia, one of several claims of news bias at 21st Century Fox Inc. made by former and current workers opposing its takeover of Sky Plc.

“You can’t do in-depth reporting if you’re not there,” said Jessica Golloher, a former Fox Radio correspondent who is suing the division for gender discrimination, at a gathering with U.K. lawmakers and citizens in Parliament on Monday. “Fox didn’t let me go to Moscow to dig into Trump’s Russian connections, even when I offered to pay my own way.”

“Fox is just buying what the White House is selling,” she said.

Golloher’s claim follows allegations earlier this year that Trump colluded with Fox on a story to divert attention from his ties with Russia. She made the remarks shortly after meeting the Competition & Markets Authority, which is investigating the 11.7 billion-pound ($15.5 billion) Sky merger on grounds of media plurality and whether Fox has a genuine commitment to broadcasting standards.

When reached for comment, a Fox representative cited a Fox News statement from May without reference to Monday’s hearing. In May, the company said, “Jessica Golloher’s claims are without merit. Her allegations of discrimination and retaliation are baseless. We will vigorously defend the matter.”

Fox fell 0.3 percent to $31.07 at 2:13 p.m. in New York. The stock has gained about 11 percent this year.

    Witnesses Speak

Golloher provided testimony to the CMA along with her attorney Douglas Wigdor, who is representing 27 current and former Fox employees in a range of harassment and discrimination lawsuits against the company. Fox News anchor Kelly Wright also spoke at the meeting.

The trio were joined in Parliament by former Roger Ailes protege Joe Lindsley, campaigners from online advocacy group Avaaz, and former Labour leader Ed Miliband, who has been a vocal critic of the Sky deal.

Golloher also told the gathering that she was marginalized at Fox News because of her gender and was fired earlier this year shortly after reporting her concerns to human resources

“This shocking first-hand testimony shows what it’s like to work at Fox,” said Alaphia Zoyab, senior campaigner at Avaaz. “Fox’s takeover is deeply threatening to U.K. news and democratic values, and should be stopped.”
