It obviously was set up, and one he was stupid to fall for. I can't paste the screen shot as I am on my phone, but he is in the clear as far as law goes, it is legal for foreigners to volunteer for campaigns, as long as they are not reimbursed.
Are you really going to follow Hannity and Limbaugh down that rabbit hole longway? You will end up looking like a fuking duped idiot again. Don't dig yourself into a deeper hole.Originally Posted by longway
Team Trump has lost Fox New's conservative commentator Charles Krauthammer now. He has been one of the most staunch supporters. The tide is turning.
"They were saying for six months, we didn't do it, there's no evidence that we did it ... Now they're saying, yeah we did it, but it wasn't so bad and we were incompetent at it. That's not a very good defense," Krauthammer, a Fox News contributor, said on the network.
"If you get in a car to go to a certain place in the middle of the night to pick up stolen goods, and it turns out the stolen goods don't show up but the cops show up, I think you're going to have a very weak story saying 'I got swindled here,'" he said.
"Look, this is incompetence, they got swindled and he admits 'If I had known, I wouldn't have done this,'" Krauthammer added. "But to say 'I love it,' to be informed that the Russians are working on their behalf, contradicts six months of stories."
"I defended them, because up until today there was no 'there' there," he said.
"Well now there is a 'there.'"
"The denial of collusion is very weak right now because it looks as if Don Jr. was receptive to receiving this information," he concluded.

The big picture of Russian attempts to put their finger on the scale to help Donald Trump is becoming clearer. Now we have direct evidence of their attempt to penetrate the Trump organization. And we have evidence that Trump Jr was receptive to accepting dirt and a willingness to use it in a campaign to damage Clinton. The cover up is now falling apart and there will be more damning revelations coming as the rats scurry for shelter.
It does appear as though the "let the investigation play itself out" crowd has scored a major victory today. If Jr. was doing it, you can pretty much safely bet that Daddy has got dirt too. Whether they find it, who knows. But its there....only a fool could believe otherwise at this point.
And again, just for the record, there is an absurd level of irony in the right wing defending the Ruskies that is just completely beyond any irony possibly in the history politics.
How many people who talk shit politics actually believe anything they say? It just makes me wonder...
This entire thing is an epic facepalm moment for the right wing
I must admit, after reading the email chain from Jr's Twitter.... Mercy...Originally Posted by redhaze

I hope that the irony is noted by mssrs longway, Earl, Neo, FaRT, Slick, ho ho and others who mocked the idea of any Russian interference in the election as pure fantasy. They all come away from this with mud on their faces.Originally Posted by redhaze

Gawd, Drumpf Jnr's Twatter feed is painful to read.
Every right-wing toady sycophant going lining up to try to distract from the fact and implications of what he did by trying to portray him as honest for releasing his emails... which show he did exactly what he has been accused of!
It's the whole 'it doesn't matter what leaks reveal it's the leaks themselves that are important' thing all over again.
I'm just reading the actual emails between Little Donnie Trump, Jr., II, and Goldstone and it looks to me that Donald Trump may have known of this himself.
On the June 3rd email's last line, Goldstone says he can send the information to the elder Trump via Rhona, who is Trump's long time personal secretary.
What's to say the didn't go ahead and do this?

That is one thing I don't understand though. Why did he release these on his own, and why now?Originally Posted by AntRobertson
There is more to this aspect of the story that is yet to come out. My guess is someone else had these emails, was about to release them, and Jr. leapfrogged.
There is no other way these emails were released other than under extreme duress.
To lead the narrative. Put it out there without the media spin, straight from him. He's also probably highly confident (lawyers) they're isn't anything incriminating about it, just really bad optics.Originally Posted by redhaze
I read somewhere that the emails were going to be released by a journalist, and Jr called & asked for more time before they were released.
Then released them himself.
That sounds right
That's my pick as well.Originally Posted by redhaze

Brings up the next question, how'd the journalist get hold of them?Originally Posted by Slick
Trump still has a high approval rating among Republicans and his base is solid. Republicans don't really have any interest in this story. As long as they can spin this as a plot by the media to disrupt his presidency they feel insulated from any real repurcussions.Originally Posted by Slick
As long as the only real threat to Trump's presidency is from the Republican congress itself by impeachment he really has nothing to fear. They have obviously not reached the point of turning on him.
Agree with that also save for the part about it not being incriminating. It's highly incriminating. It's attempted collusion.Originally Posted by Slick
To borrow Krauthammer's analogy: it's no use turning up and expecting to receive stolen goods and then arguing you did nothing wrong because you didn't receive them.
