One man shot in the head found. Unclear who he is, if he got shot or shot himself or if he is connected. That seems to be the man refered to as attacker who committed suicide.

That one person that may be the killer has a bag nearby. I understand police is not getting near and wait for a bomb disposal robot to deal with that bag first.

Munich shooting: Police say nine dead as manhunt continues

Police have been deployed in large numbers
German police are engaged in a huge anti-terror manhunt in the city of Munich after nine people died in a shopping mall shooting.

Police are investigating whether one of the bodies is that of a perpetrator.
The attackers were earlier reported still on the run. Witnesses said they had seen three with guns. Police urged people to avoid public places.

The attack was at the Olympia mall in the north-western Moosach district. Public transport has been suspended.
Police are now describing it as "an acute terror situation". They say the first reports of a shooting in Hanauer Street came in just before 18:00 (16:00 GMT).

The Bavarian capital's central railway station has been evacuated.
People stranded by the emergency and unable to get home are being offered shelter by locals. The initiative was launched with the Twitter hashtag #Offenetür (open door).

Police helicopters are flying over the city and special forces are involved in the massive police deployment.
Bavarian public radio reports that an elite border security unit, GSG9, is heading for Munich with several helicopters.

Bavarian Prime Minister Horst Seehofer is holding a crisis meeting with security advisers.
The German Interior Minister, Thomas de Maiziere, who was on his way to the US is returning to Germany.

Meanwhile the neighbouring Czech Republic is boosting its border security.

The security operation continues in the search for the perpetrators
German security forces have been on alert since a teenage migrant stabbed and injured five people on a train in Bavaria on Monday, in an attack claimed by so-called Islamic State.
The authorities had warned of the danger of further incidents.

More details have begun emerging about events at the shopping centre.
Local resident Dominic Faust described how people entered the mall screaming.
"Those people told us that there was a shooting outside and so the security closed the door of this mall and asked everybody to go upstairs to the fifth floor," he said.

A man working at a petrol station in Munich earlier told the BBC: "We see just ambulances and firemen and police but all this area is evacuated, all the streets.
"Now [there] are no cars just on the side of the streets. All of the streets are blocked. I see that the people are scared. Everybody are running around."

Munich police said they did not know where "the perpetrators" were. "Look after yourselves and avoid public places".
Police also urged people to help their operation by avoiding speculation and to desist from using photos or video of their deployments online.

Like the pre-planned air excercise on September 11, 2001?

Sure, and if it's preplanned the choppers won't be surveillance and data centres looking for suspects.

Munich shooting: Gunman acted alone, say police

A shooting at a Munich shopping centre which left nine people dead was carried out by one gunman who then killed himself, German police have said.

The suspect was an 18-year-old German-Iranian dual national who lived in Munich, police told a news conference, but his motive is unclear.

More than 20 people were injured, three critically, police added.

A huge manhunt was launched following reports that up to three gunmen had been involved in the attack.

The body of the suspect was found about 1km (0.6 miles) from the Olympia shopping centre in the north-western suburb of Moosach.

If no forces were on the scene then this could be, though suicide is strictly forbidden to Muslims. If the shooter intended to die as a martyr, it makes more sense for him to stick around till forces turn up then raise his gun as a threat, even if it is empty. Killing himself could be viewed as assisting the infidel authorities, which would need to tie up significant resources for the rest of his life.

This situation is different to so-called suicide bombers in respect to martyrs that die in the actual performance of jihad; this man's jihad was already satisfied. I'm not sure on the point, maybe Sharia will forgive him as a reward for success.

"Gun legislation in Germany is considered among the strictest gun control in the world.[1][2] The current law, the German Weapons Act (German: Waffengesetz), dates from 1972, and includes as well as modifies previous gun laws. This statute regulates the handling of knives, firearms and ammunition as well as acquisition, storage, commerce and maintenance of weapons."

But with true respect, my sympathy to the victims and their families.

NZ Herald reporting 10 dead, and a very bizarre exchange of words between the shooter and a bystander.
Seems this has nothing to do with radical Islam, but more about a nerdy boy who was teased at school finally breaking and going apeshit.

Some of the translated conversation transcribed from an online video:
    ......

    Witness: 'You f*****g a*sehole you ...'
Shooter: 'Because of you I was bullied for seven years'.
    Witness: 'You wa*ker you. You're a w*nker.'
Shooter: ' ... and now I have to buy a gun to shoot you.'
Witness: 'a gun - f**k off your head isn't on right.'
Shooter and Balcony Man shout at each other.
Witness apparently to people filming: 'He's got a gun here the guy has one.'
    Shooter: 'F*****g Turks!'
    Witness: 'F*****g foreigners.'
Witness to unidentified person: 'Ey! He's got a gun. He has loaded his gun! Get the cops here. He's walking around here the w*nker!'
    Shooter: 'I am German.'
Witness: 'You're a wa*ker is what you are.'
    Shooter: 'Stop filming!'
Witness: 'A wa*ker is what you are, what the f**k are you doing?'
Shooter: 'Yeah what, I was born here!'
Witness: 'Yeah and what the f**k you think you're doing?'
Shooter: 'I grew up here in the Hartz 4 (unemployment benefits in Germany) area.
Witness and Shooter talk at same time (unintelligible).
Shooter references 'Behandlung' which translates to 'treatment'.........

    There's more.

    You're paraphrasing...again. I said "radical" Islam.
And just because his folks are Iranian doesn't mean he's Muslim. More likely to be Bahaai, Jewish, atheist or Christian if they emigrated more than 18 years ago.

Consider, too, that he shot himself, and didn't go out in a blaze of glory.
Sounds more like Columbine or Sandy Hook than radical religious zeal.

    Lets see what unfolds.

He did not sound like a radical Muslim. There are many christian Iranians in Germany. Usually well educated and well integrated. They fled Iran when the Mullahs took over. Mental problems can throw people over the edge, especially in the present climate.

You probably know I am not a muslim apologist but I like to get my facts straight even if they don't confirm my bias.

His name and level of melanin / skin pigmentation will be the determining factor for some as to whether this was an act of terrorism or someone mentally-ill.

Maybe. Depends on the circumstance and definitions.

Difference being that if they're white they aren't held out as a representative of their entire race or religion.

    Same goes for blacks.

And ALL murderers are mentally deranged, as murder is a deliberate act.

No it doesn't. They're portrayed as thugs (and often shot by cops).
