As mentioned above... probably the definitive work on the politics and fallout behind the 2003 Iraq invasion. Written by Washington Post writer Thomas E Ricks. Essential reading.

Decent read. Yet, I feel that Mr. Ricks might have restricted himself regarding the larger picture of connecting the dots and the continuing imperial quest

Otherwise, a tome that most open minded folks need to have on their book shelves.

    Well done, Neo!!

Yes certainly there is a bigger picture, but the focus of the book is what went on in the White House, Pentagon and Green Zone... that it is all based on documented evidence gives it an immediacy that is impossible to argue against.

    Cheers

Studying as I have been the history of Cambodia, it's hard not to draw the parallels between Nixon and Kissinger bombing the shit out of the country and giving birth to the Khmer Rouge, and Bush and Cheney bombing the shit out of Iraq and giving birth to Islamic State.

Allegedly some of the "Opposition Parties" have broken ranks from the SA created bloc.

Kurds, Assyrians Called ?Traitors?, Abandon Syrian Opposition Bloc

"The Kurdish PYD was a founding member of the NCC, which is often regarded as the main non-armed umbrella group for the Syrian internal opposition.

“Many reasons led us to freeze our membership in NCC,” Sihanouk Dibo, a high-ranking representative of PYD told Kurdistan24. “The most important one to us is that many NCC members designated the Syrian Kurdish forces of People’s Protection Units (YPG) as terrorists.”

First and foremost, acceptance of foreign military aid in fighting Daesh caused that the NCC began stigmatizing its only non-Arab members, a statement published by PYD on Thursday, corroborated.

“NCC’s inclusion of the Kurdish forces of YPG, YPJ (Women’s Protection Units) and SDF (Syrian Democratic Forces) in the list of terrorism and demeaning of their victories against IS (Daesh) violates the ethics and noble goals of struggle against terrorism,” the release read.

“Our goal is achieving a democratic Syria for all the Syrians regardless of their ethnicity or sect,” PYD stated.

In December 2015, the Kurds were ostracized from opposition talks held in Saudi Arabia. Riyadh invited 116 representatives from various political and militant groups of Syria to a two-day conference, but some of the participants reportedly had close ties with violent extremist groups. The Kurds and their allied groups held their own meeting in the northeastern Syrian province of Hasakah instead."

One can only hope more of the "Syrian Opposition" finally see that there is an option, to end this slaughter. Taking a similar position maybe what's required for more of them.

War is money. Money is war.

For example , Northrup-Grumman is the world's fifth largest "defense contractor".
    ( I love that term , don't you ? lol).

Take a look at its stock (NOC -NYSE). At $25 in year 2000 now at $180 , more than doubling just in the past two years.

This past October they were awarded a Pentagon contract to build up to 100 USAF Long Range Strike Bombers , a contract valued at $ 80 BILLION provided a nice bump. (Yup , that's ye olde taxpayers dollar at work providing contractor jobs.)

The "Corporate-Military Complex" was, has been and is modern economic reality.
It's not going to allow itself to disappear anytime soon.

What does this have to do with ISIS...probably very little...possibly just the drone side of their business. Smaller arms not their specialty.

The real threat to the concept of brotherhood of nations and peace in our time is always on the edge.
ISIS is just the little man's war...keeping the media happy by filling up commercial space.
Russia, China , North Korea , USA , UK.
I don't see many fundamentalist Islamic terrorist organizations that can bring about an Armageddon.

Historically wars have been fought essentially based on 'economic' situations.

    (musing over)

Here is a link to an update, in Russian but with English subtitles, of The P4+1 recent activities in Syria:

It is from the Russian Military, so it may or may not be 100%. However it is an update shared with the public. Has anyone anything similar, maps, achievements, named cities and dates from the crusader coalition?

One report from CFR which implies the crusader coalition drops many bombs etc. but does it achieve anything? Other than reinforcing the common belief that it is an impotent force and creating countless new "terrorists".

Nobel Peace Prize-Winner Obama Dropped 23,144 Bombs in 2015

"The United States in the past year dropped more than 20,000 bombs on Muslim-majority countries Iraq, Syria, Afghanistan, Pakistan, Yemen and Somalia, according to a study by the Council on Foreign Relations (CFR).

In an article published January 7, Micah Zenko, a senior fellow at CFR, states that since January 1, 2015, the United States has dropped an estimated 23,144 bombs in those six countries: 22,110 in Iraq and Syria; 947 in Afghanistan; 58 in Yemen; 18 in Somalia; and 11 in Pakistan.

"This estimate is based on the fact that the United States has conducted 77 percent of all airstrikes in Iraq and Syria, while there were 28,714 US-led coalition munitions dropped in 2015. This overall estimate is probably slightly low, because it also assumes one bomb dropped in each drone strike in Pakistan, Yemen, and Somalia, which is not always the case," Zenko writes.

Despite dropping tens of thousands of bombs over the past 17 months, Washington's strategy has failed to defeat Daesh and other Islamic militant groups, Zenko observed."

Why are you still avoiding calling the Russian Orthodox church-backed coalition the "Crusader coalition"?

Have you still not looked up what a Crusade is?

That's the trouble with you people.

You are incapable of listening to reason and insist on parroting outdated slogans from your looney tunes websites.

The suspected Syrian suicide bomber in the Istanbul attack has been identified from body parts, the Turkish deputy prime minister said.
The suspected bomber has been identified as a Syrian national born in 1988.

His links are being investigated, the deputy PM added.

Which body parts are the best to help identify a person?

No problem, it is his warm up system, keep parroting nonsense and then throw in a nonsense post. It helps him get through the day.

    Still awaiting answers of his view on posts, 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 6, .....................

Once again Harry you zero in on the talking points fed to you by MSM, completely ignoring the big picture show.

Try thinking outside the box for change, and tell what you're gonna do about it, instead of frothing at the mouth!!!

Should be easy to do, me thinks.

Unfortunately, in reading your blathering, there doesn't appear to be a point.

Do you have one or are you just gibbering to make yourself feel better?

    Stop being a dick.
