I don't know, but the first thing that comes to mind is the powers-that-be are carving up the territory to suit them, not the people/cultures/ethnicities or boundaries of the people who live there. Read the history of the ME at the end of WWI to see how they F'd it up last time.

If this fire ever gets put out the aftermath will see conflict between Kurds and Turks.
The Kurds are well armed and experienced in battle, holding a significant area on the Syria - Turkey border. Turkey is a NATO country.

Seems to me that it's going to be a load of countries trying to persuade Iran and Russia to send Assad out to pasture in an attempt at finding a new leader and inclusive government capable of unifying the Alawite, Sunni and Kurds against the extremist Quran bashers (if that's even possible now).

Yes. That whole situation is hangin' fire over that part of the world, if not more.

MOSCOW (Reuters) - Russia's deputy foreign minister Sergei Ryabkov said on Friday that no country could use military force in Syria without first securing the agreement of the Syrian government, the TASS news agency reported.
And Obama says "Fuck you very much".

The United States announced Friday that it is sending a limited number of special forces troops to begin operating in northern Syria to advise and assist rebels in the ongoing fight against the Islamic State.

yes, the Americans need an excuse to send troops on the ground, so placing special forces to be bombed by Russians seems quite possible, or they are completely dump and stupid at the Pentagon.

The US didn't get enough having their arse kicked in Afghanistan and Iraq, and now they want a real power like Russia or China against them. They probably think they got enough training with those 2 failed wars.

WW3 soon ? could be, other world wars have started for less

I had a very conservative US friend, the kind who would vote for Trump, and who has voted for Bush twice, and would still vote for him. A real fanatic and a complete lunatic. Great drinking buddy though.

He told me more than a few times that the US will eventually need to fight against Russia directly, or possibly China. The sooner, the better.

These kind of conservative lunatics are everywhere in the Pentagon decision process, so you can see how a real world war could start soon.

Of course they all assume they would win, like in a hollywood movie. The alternative reality version might not be as glamourous and exciting as one though.

There may of course be special International Laws, passed this morning by an Unexceptional countries politicians, which all world countries must obey. Otherwise they are seen as acting "provocatively".

Here is a quote from a Russian Deputy Foreign Minister:

Here, H&B, is a source reporting the minister:

Russia says no country can use military force in Syria without government approval | Reuters

"Russia's deputy foreign minister Sergei Ryabkov said on Friday that no country could use military force in Syria without first securing the agreement of the Syrian government, the TASS news agency reported.

TASS said Ryabkov was responding to a question about the prospect of the United States launching a ground operation in Syria.

"The question of using military force in any form without the agreement of Damascus is for us unacceptable," it quoted him as saying."

Nothing on Tass though, Reuters stirring the pot maybey.

I already reported this - and the US's immediate response that they were sending special forces in to assist the rebels.

Lavrov has no say in the matter.

    Try and keep up.

I'm saying no-one pays any attention to what he says, they are Putin's words and he is nothing more than a glorified glove puppet with Putin's hand up his bum.

Turkey has carried out its first air strikes as part of the US-led coalition against the Islamic State group.
Turkey's foreign ministry said its jets began attacking IS targets across the border in Syria late on Friday.

Now do a search of TASS and see if they have such an article. One should try to ascertain the provenance prior to accepting the pig to poke.

Which Friday? The Friday before the 29th August 2015 was Friday the 28th of August 2015.

What are you on about now? Are you saying Reuters invented this story?!

Because if you are you're an idiot.

I suppose what the Russian deputy foreign minister Sergei Ryabkov is saying is that it's illegal as well as unacceptable rather than not physically possible.
