We might choose to analyse data, facts and lists of dead people. We could compare similar nations "with guns" and "without" - i.e. US and UK.
Of course, some folks would rather not take this approach because they already know, just like everybody else does, what the results are; they know, just like everyone else does, because the results are overwhelming and obvious - we see it daily, weekly, monthly, annually, throughout our lives.

3 stabbed at London Tube station in terror attack, police say
A man stabbed three people at an east London Tube station Saturday before police subdued him with a stun gun and made an arrest, London's Metropolitan Police said.
Police said they were treating the stabbing at Leytonstone station as a terrorist incident.
One man sustained serious injuries not considered to be life-threatening, police said. Two others suffered minor injuries.
