11-Year-Old Girl Uses Shotgun to Save Herself From Home Invader

An 11-year-old girl in Michigan was able to defend herself from a man who broke into her home late last week. The girl hid in a closet after a man entered her house while she was home alone. Unfortunately for the robber, when he opened the closet door he found the girl aiming a shotgun right at him, Michigan Live reports.

Deputies from the Lapeer County Sheriff’s Department responded around 3:45 p.m. Friday, Jan. 30 to a Five Lakes Road home where the girl was home alone when a vehicle pulled into the driveway.

A Lapeer County Sheriff’s Office news release states one person knocked on all the doors and forced their way inside the home when there was no response. The girl locked herself inside a bathroom closet with a shotgun.

The suspect eventually opened the bathroom door and closet where the child was hiding with the weapon."

Las Vegas police Thursday afternoon arrested a 19-year-old suspect in the road-rage killing of a 44-year-old mother of four last week, according to authorities and news reports.

Erich Milton Nowsch Jr., was taken into custody shortly before 1 p.m. after a brief standoff at his mother's house, a block from where Tammy Meyers was shot in the head outside her home Feb. 12. She died on Valentine's Day after being taken off life support.

Delaware County woman critical after reported accidental shooting

A 33-year-old woman is in critical condition at a Tulsa hospital Thursday afternoon after being shot in the chest while inside a mobile home bathroom in the Tia Juana community, which is east of the Disney city limits, a Delaware County Sheriff's Office official confirmed.

Sheriff's Capt. Gayle Wells said Dana Beckett and her boyfriend were visiting a home at Tia Juana's Sunnywood subdivision earlier that day when she was reportedly shot by accident while seated in the restroom.

"Two other people in the house were handling a firearm that accidentally discharged, and (the bullet) went through a wall and struck her in the upper left chest," Wells said.

Law enforcement officials in Michigan said that they learned this week that an elected Republican official who had recently shot herself to death had been adjusting her bra holster when the accident occurred. Earlier this year, St. Joseph Public Safety officers reported that 55-year-old Christina Bond had died on New Years Day from what appeared to be a self-inflicted gunshot wound to her eye.
Although the full autopsy had not been completed, officials released new details on Wednesday.
“She was having trouble adjusting her bra holster, couldn’t get it to fit the way she wanted it to. She was looking down at it and accidentally discharged the weapon,” St. Joseph Public Safety Director Mark Clapp said.
According to an obituary published by Florin Funeral Service, Bond joined the U.S. Navy out of high school, and served two terms as an active Military Police. She was an administrator for the Road to Life Church, and an “active member of the Christian Motorcycle Association.”
The obituary described Bond as being “on FIRE for the LORD.”
Last summer, she was elected as a Republican Precinct Delegate for Saint Joseph Charter Precinct 1.
Her Facebook page is filled with Bible verses, and information about organizing for the Republican Party. Several recent posts complained about Common Core education standards, and about President Barack Obama. Other posts depicted black protesters in Ferguson as dangerous rioters.
“Here’s the most critical evasive driving tactic to avoid getting swarmed and killed in a riot,” one post was titled.
“This was a great experience!” Bond wrote after being elected precinct delegate last August. “What I learned is that we need more people involved in taking our country back and it starts at home with everyday people who care, and I believe we all care. So let’s do it!!”
