He's correct, I don't know where you got that list but current 2014 lists put Russia as #1 producer Saudi as #2 and the US #3.. He did say "producer" not "reserves" so maybe that's where you missed the boat? BTW when I use the term "reserves" it doesn't refer to yet being processed like your list does, it refers to processed and stored..

So you think that reserves of stored oil gives a country leverage ? Nobody cares how much strategic reserves a country has.

Russia is self suffiient. They supply they own food and energy. They are a creditor nation with a trade surplus. The US is a debtor nation with a trade deficit. End of discussion
