Oh purlease, haven't we just been watching Fox fucking News.
Any sensible response, Harry? You seem to be getting very emotional, why is that? I've explained, partially, how I came to my conclusions. What about you? What was your involvement in Syria and Iraq?
I live and work in the Middle East you plank.

If it was "overrun with sex obsessed religious sadists", I think I'd fucking know about before you.

I did say "another", but you're right, you're front of the queue for shoving your tongue into Putin's chocolate starfish.

In answer to your question, IS and AQ had no foothold in Syria until large areas of it essentially became a failed state thanks to Assad.

Some bigoted Sunni dominated place no doubt, where you will be fed a completely b/s one sided, propagandised dialogue by people who probably believe their own bullshit (and resent the fact that now they have to eat it). I doubt they have been to Syria.

Have you ever spent any time enjoying the great food, wine & nightlife of Damascus? I have- a boozy weekend with a mate, long term resident of Istanbul (but thoroughly British). Whilst I must admit memories are a bit hazy, Damascus rocks- or at least it did. The Damascus I saw was tolerant, diverse, liked booze, still kinda exotic, and lotsa fun. Uninhibited fun. Actually I found myself wishing I had more time there, to check out other parts of town- we were hanging around with the yupper middle class types. Kinda similar to Istanbul, but more Gallic influence and took itself a bit less seriously. Ever been to Aleppo? (I haven't- but DrB has).

Just because you are an expat in some characterless oil dominated joint in the ME, does not give you any knowledge or experience of Syria, or Syrians. P.S:- they don't dress like stereotypical Arabs. Actually the ones I met dress better than our lot. That is the Syria these vile Islamists are trying to destroy- but they have failed. Thanks Vlad, owe ya one.

Damascus does not represent the rest of Syria. It's a government stronghold.

And I'm sure you had a great time partying with the Vichy, probably a few miles away from people getting their fingernails pulled out for calling Assad's dad a c u n t.

It's one person's perspective. Doesn't change my opinion of the fact that Russia contributed to the civilian catastrophe.
    Speaking of catastrophe...

“Britain had since long been working on dividing and ruling principle in Islamic lands; within two past centuries, their policies had only wreaked havoc on Muslim countries; today, they shamelessly would call Iran as a threat to the region, while it is far too clear that Britain had been source of suffering and plight for nations of the region, and they had corrupted the whole region,” Leader emphasized.
“The enemies, in their most flexible posture, are calm in appearance, but a beast of absolute rage and hatred lurks behind their calm; all nations should be prepared for this beast.”

Iranian Supreme Leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei condemned Britain as a "source of evil and misery. Everyone knows that ... it is the British who have always been the source of threats, corruption and misery,"
The policies and the actions of the British in the past two centuries a source of evil and misery for the peoples of the region.
Britain is provoking conflicts among the main Sunni and Shia branches of Islam. "The old British policy of 'divide and conquer' is seriously on the agenda of Islam's enemies."

This is a very common perception of Britain by Iranians, they admire the English but also deeply mistrust them.
Well it's very much a part of the history of the two countries.

I have nothing but the deepest respect for Persian/ Iranian culture, cuisine and magnificent history- look forward to the day they'll shed the Ayatollah's. Of course we aren't helping in the West, with our constant sabre rattling, petty sanctions etc- and, just like Syria, Iran has not invaded anyone in recent history.

Don't know if you keep an eye on these things, but following the Iranian Revolution there was an outflow of people on the losing side- you might say the Shah's men, now expatriate and among us. Many of them have done very well for themselves, indeed- they are smart, savvy people. Underestimate them at your peril!

First it was Russia to say no, then China, Iran, Philippine, now we have Germany saying ameristan is not required in the Minsk II meeting.

    https://www.rt.com/news/377854-gabri...ormat-ukraine/

"German Foreign Minister Sigmar Gabriel says he sees no need to add the US to the current format of four-way ministerial meetings concerning the Ukraine settlement, noting, however, that close contact with Washington on the matter is “necessary.”"

I think they realise that if they speak to Putin, they are getting the opinion that he's told Trump to follow anyway.

It seems the POTUSE has managed to weather another storm. How long will he asks to meet other world leaders before they say, "Yes good idea, get your man to talk to my man and we'll see when we can meet".
