You wrote to the effect that the killers are too young to be subject to the US gun laws, which seem to vary from State to State. Do you not see the obvious solution?

In any case, are they not subject to the laws applicable to unlawful killing?

Uh, actually they are required to comply with US gun laws. Its just that criminals seem to like to ignore laws (that's why they are called criminals).

The best solution would have been for an honest citizen to "fire them up" as soon as they shot off the first round at the jogger. That would have saved the taxpayers the expense of trying them and keeping them in jail for the next 20 years (and taken them out of the gene pool permanently).
