Just read that the FBI's Ten-Most-Wanted list had a jubilee, 500 people have been on it as of 18.06.2013. #500 was captured within 24 hours, that was quick. At the moment, 5 are Hispanics, 4 Whities, and a Jew. No Negro. Only 8 of them all were women. 470 have been captured or found deceased, 15 had their charges dropped. But do you believe it, I couldn't find statistics on how many Negros have been on that list. Not many, I guess. Seems they have more talent for bicycle theft than serious crimes, serial murder, terrorism, this sort of stuff.

    Probably couldn't happen now.

The NRA dog and pony show would be all up in arms (heh!) about intrusive gubmint regulation or slippery-slope arguments or socialism or some other BS.

I view it the same as teaching birth control in a classroom. You might not be promiscuous, and you might not come into contact with guns, but better to know what to do if it happens. Though I'm pretty sure a lot of the NRA nuts would disagree with me on the birth control issue.

    Not necessarily.

I'm sure all mothers & fathers don't want to see jr. or sis come down with an std or in sis's case, become pregnant at an early age.

He tends to miss quite a bit . . . and when he is reminded of it he just wanders onto something else. Ignorance is bliss

But that's just the thing, BM - far too many on the right do NOT want sex education taught in school, thinking it leads to promiscuity . . . and then when their child becomes pregnant or catches a vd it's too late

I am quite well aware of the Buddhist precept of not taking a life, but like I stated before, I would definitely "shoot to kill" to protect an innocent child or woman from the likes of that dirtbag in the video.

I would just have to take my chances on the overall effect of my kamma, but according to the Budhha's dhamma, it is the intent behind the action, not the action itself that will determine its impact on your kamma. If the intent is to protect an innocent person (or yourself) from serious injury, rape, or possible death, than I would think on balance, I would come out on the plus side.

On the other hand, not taking a preventive step to protect someone such as the woman in the video, might very well create more negative kamma, than whacking the dirtbag.

Latest news from the AP: Chicago had over 70 shootings resulting in 12 fatalities over the Independence Day weekend.

Obviously the bad guys have guns, so why shouldn't the good guys have guns?

And. . . Illinois has just become the last state in the USA to make it legal for private citizens to carry concealed weapons.

Got news for you QC: Many Thai people already have guns in their homes. My Thai BIL who is a Thai police Captain, keeps a .45 cal Kimber Procarry with him at all times.

His daughter, who lives in BKK and is married to a Thai dentist, also has a Kimber handgun at home for their protection.

I've been personally assured by the Commander of the Thai Police Department where my BIL works, that if I want to import a pistol for my own protection, he will help me with the paperwork and it will not be a problem.

So once again, your perception of reality appears to be very different from actual reality.

(BTW: I kind of like you using the familial term of endearment 'Ricky', in the same post where you talk about your nipples. Too bad, I'm a married man.)

Since it is apparent that violent crime occurs regularly in most large cities in the USA, and; liberals/progressives do not want the average citizen to use firearms for self-defense, or; for violent criminals to be executed, I guess the liberal/progressive stance is to just write off the innocent victims of these criminals, as if they don't matter.

    A Not-So-Far-Fetched made-up story:

Sam, who was a dedicated, card-carrying Democrat lived adjacent to a very bad part of town. One night, he heard a noise, and as he went down the stairs to investigate (with plastic ball bat in hand), he was suddenly slammed into the wall and knocked unconscious.

When he awoke, he was tied to the staircase. He looked on in horror as his wife, his 13 year-old daughter, and his 9 year-old son were repeatedly sodomized by three large men.

Finally, after forcing Sam to give him a BJ, the gangleader ordered the rest of the family killed.

The men cut the throats of the wife and kids, and then left taking all the valuables.

Eventually Sam freed himself and dialed 911. The police arrived 15 minutes later.

Sam was extremely heartbroken at the deaths and violations of his family. After a couple of months of counseling and joining a support group, he eventually got to where he could talk about his ordeal.

After a few sessions, another member of the support group, who had also had family members killed in a home invasion, asked Sam if he wished he had had a gun when the men first broke into his home.

Gosh no!, exclaimed Sam. I was too upset, what if I had accidentally shot one of them?

Until you are on the outs with the missus, or have a problem with somebody that knows a higher up cop than you.

Anyways, I suppose this conversation was over a few drinks, and I doubt he would do it if you pursued it.

If you were white, of course . . .

I grew up in Grosse Pointe (look it up if you don't know these townships) in the 60s/70s - same thing. It was a great place . . . which didn't reflect the real world
