Maybe, but their leaders are smart and have an insidious agenda. Remove as much protection of the individual, and equality ensured by the government, push most Americans into poverty and serfdom to those who own the means of production. Unfortunately, the democrats are in the boat as well, the endless bickering about trivia just disguises it.

I think I said if every honest and decent citizen had a gun AND THE TRAINING to use it properly. Criminals (who usually have already lost their rights to lawfully own firearms) caught with guns should be given life imprisonment without parole, just for having a firearm.
As far as that poor lady, if she had a loaded gun, even stored upstairs, as soon as she heard the sound of someone kicking in her door, she could have dashed upstairs and had it ready to shoot as soon as she spotted the intruder (who would have probably been coming up the staris by then).
Of course a gun won't "save the day" in every circumstance, but it at least gives homeowners a fighting chance, and most surveys of convicted criminals show that armed citizens are a deterrent to crime.
In NOLA a few years back, brutal carjackings were becoming common. They sometimes resulted in the needless slaying of the car's driver.
Once, a law was passed to allow car owner's to use deadly force to prevent the carjackings, the carjacking rate dropped overnight.
As far as "dreaming of shooting a negro", I certainly would have loved to shoot that negro, if it would have prevented that woman's ordeal.
IMO any decent person, regardless of race who saw that video and wouldn't voluntarily want to shoot that lowlife dirtbag in that situation deserves to spend a few months on a deserted island with that scum. Then maybe they will realize that some people need to be killed so that innocent people can live safely.
If it had been a caucasion man beating on a Negro woman, then I would certainly have loved to shoot that caucasion, if it would have prevented that woman's assualt.
Too bad, so many so-called "liberals/progressives" cannot understand that simple logic.
However, if something similar to that happened to their wives/daughters/mothers (and I hope it never does), I'm sure they might rethink their position about arming their loved ones and TEACHING THEM HOW TO SHOOT correctly.
But then again, maybe not. Perhaps being a "victim" is how they justify their shortcomings.
I always keep a loaded .40 caliber Sig Sauer under my pillow at night and in a handy but convenient, hidden spot in my home during the daytime. It is loaded with teflon-coated hollow-points and both my wife and I shoot it regularly.
Beat on my door in the middle of the night and I gaurantee you I will have the gun in my hand ready-to-go in just a few seconds until I make positive identification. If I ever need to use it, I will use it without hesitation - four in the chest and two in the head, repeat as needed.
I trust my kamma will not suffer too badly if I take out a bad guy.

Are you serious? Haven't you ever heard a 911 tape of a screaming woman as she is attacked by some dirtbag? The police show up several minutes later to find a dead victim. Audible alarms sometimes just goad the attacker to quickly escalate the crime.
Even if a neighbor calls 911 immediately, it will still take 15-20 minutes to get a squad car to your location. By that time, a pissed-off attacker will have likely cut your throat (and that of your children) in order to get rid of any eye witnesses.
Ask any law enforcement person (male or female) what they use for their own personal and home defense. If they are honest, they will all tell you that they carry off-duty weapons. These are the people who deal with criminals and the aftermath of crime every day. They know what kind of dirbags they are up against.
If its good enough for them, then I would think it is good enough for every citizen.
Panic buttons and safe rooms are a good idea, but even with those, a properly armed and trained adult can often react more quickly than trying to round up all your children and get them into the safe room in time.

What burglars look for, favorite items include: cash, jewelry, laptops, guns....
Viscious cycle ain't it.
Imagine the U.S. would use their spy surveillance technic against robbers and murderes.
Fifty percent of americans would be behind bars![]()

I'm certainly not following your logic.
Are you stating that if "drugs were legal and free", serious crimes like rape, armed robbery, and assaults would drop or disappear?
People addicted to drugs will always have a hard time keeping a job and/or providing for their family (if they can keep a family). So even with "all you can metabolize" drugs, they will still resort to crime in order to get things.
Many times, people under the influence of drugs (alcohol, meth, coke, etc), are motivated to commit horrible crimes (rapes, asaultes, etc) just for the thrill. Do you think free drugs will stop that tendency?
I believe the root cause of most crimes is due to a lack of an individual having any moral values and a lack of respect for others. Perhaps criminal tendencies are also genetic (as supported by some studies).
Trying to blame govenment laws or social policies or any other external events for the criniminal actions of thugs, rapists, and thiefs is just making excuses for those scumbags IMO.
Regardless of the cause, crimes such as the one perputrated on that poor women in the video needs to be prevented by any means possible. Even if it means killing up to 15% of an area's population (which is the usual percentage of habitual criminals found within any given population) I think the remaining 85% of honest and decent people deserve to be able to live peaceably and safely in their neighborhoods, especially their own homes.

Unfortunately I don't think it would have saved the day in this circumstance or indeed in many others. DK pretty much summed it up when it comes to using a gun under stress and chances are that the children would have been in the firing line. Rather like the now-and-then golfer hitting it in the hazard that he was trying to avoid.Originally Posted by RickThai
Then there are the innocent incidents that happen just because there is a gun in the house. How many of them are there compared to break-ins with assault?
In the end the women went through a traumatic experience but probably not as bad as having killed someone or possibly her children. Killing a person is a far more difficult act to come to terms with and many don't whatever the justification. The guy was caught and is under arrest. Let's hope the punishment is appropriate for the crime.
Do you know who else advocated killing a sizeable segment of the population in order to prevent future crimes?Originally Posted by RickThai

However the killing of the 15% would be a criminal act and so recursively you end up with nobody...and no crime. I think that maybe you didn't think this all the way through...Originally Posted by RickThai
