On another thread, I was called a raging homophobe (as well as nasty, horrible, and intolerant) because I posted some opinions on homosexuality that were not politically correct.
The observations I made were:
a) I personally think a man inserting his penis in another man's arsehole is disgusting.
b) Homosexuality is a form of deviant sex that is unnatural and is probably due to a physical or psychological disorder.
Having stated that, I also stated that I had no issues with same-sex marriage.
Now the term "homophobia" is widely used by liberals to describe anyone who says anything critical of homosexuals.
It is certainly a misnomer as "phobia" means an "unreasonable fear". Most of the people I know who are critical of homosexuality have absolutely no fear of homosexuals; they just object to homosexuality for reasons of religion, etc.
I believe the net results of accusations of "homophobe", much like accusations of "racist" is to stifle healthy discussion and intimidate people from voicing opposing views. This form of intimidation is widely used by liberals and other so-called progressives.
By stifling discussion I think they are doing a disservice to homosexuals and minorities, and society in general, because issues can never be resolved without open and honest discussion.
As for my statements/opinions on homosexuality, I believe my personal disgust on the physical aspects of male-to-male sex, is a natural reaction (much like aversion to feces because of smell, etc. is nature's way of telling you not to eat your own waste).
As to homosexuality being deviant sex, studies estimate that less than 7% of human beings are homosexual. From a statistical standpoint, that would certainly be considered "deviant".
As far as believing homosexuality is unnatural. Biology teaches that the strongest instincts most mammals display are those of self-preservation and preservation of species. Sometimes preservation of species actually trumps self-preservation. Homosexuality completely goes against preservation of species, (and due to HIV/AIDS) and also puts those individuals into a high risk category. Therefore, homosexuality seems pretty un-natural to me.
In any event, the soundness of my logic/observations aside, why do liberals/progressive try to drown out or stifle any meaningful dialog that is contrary to theirs?
