Big Republican donors who have funded presidential candidates in the past are skeptical of Trump. They do not believe he can win so they are not contributing. In the last cycle at this time Romney had over 70 million in the war chest because there was genuine optimism about his ablity to win. Maybe his campaign song should be 'I've got plenty of nuthin'.

No better to start a new thread. We should ditch these truncated threads. The time has come to stop posting in them. We need to rebuild.

I say wait until after the conventions. Then start a "2016 U.S. presidential campaign" thread

A reasonable compromise. We'll know by then for sure who is actually running.

Dem/GOP issues/posts are becoming intermingled now we have 2 presumptive nominees. Time for someone to start a new thread. "2016 US Presidential race" would be good.

    No it wouldn't.

E.g. What does discussion about Trump's fundraising woes have to do with the Clinton campaign?

    Fuck all.

Agreed. Nothing wrong or confusing with the current set-up.

Really? Surrogates contrast the way the two campaigns are funded all the time. Plenty of room for discussion there.

Personally, I think waiting until after the convention is fine if you're going to stomp your feet about it.

In the two weeks since Hillary Clinton wrapped up the Democratic presidential primary, runner-up Bernie Sanders has promised to work hard to defeat Donald Trump — but he’s given no sign he’ll soon embrace Clinton, his party’s presumptive nominee. Neither have many of Sanders’s supporters.

A June 14th Bloomberg Politics national poll of likely voters in November’s election found that barely half of those who favored Sanders — 55 percent — plan to vote for Clinton.

Instead, 22 percent say they’ll vote for Trump, while 18 percent favor Libertarian Gary Johnson.
Just as I thought. She is going to regret rigging the nomination process.

    As usual I was right.

You mean 'as usual I am taking a victory lap before the race is run'. Clinton supporters said the same about refusing to support Obama in 2008. By the time the election rolls around most will come around especially given the odious possibility of Trump in the White House.

^ Its not that they wont vote for Clinton, they are choosing Trump, if they haven't gone off him already, they aren't going to now.

Bernie bros know a shill when they see one, they wont go back, especially as she treated them with disdain during the primaries.

Trump will recover soon enough in the polls, but she fell off a cliff with her numbers and she is not going to recover.

^A few diehards may not vote at all but very few will vote for Trump and then only out of ignorance. Trump is anathema to anyone who has progressive values.

True. But I have a nephew and his wife, early 30s, who are Bernie people but say they will vote for Trump or not at all rather than Hillary. They are not stupid people, and they are not "political" people normally, but they do not see the implications for themselves or their kids of a Trump in office, a Trump Supreme Court, etc.
Father and Uncle fighting mightly to turn them around, and it is altogether possible we might, so Bernie people coming to Hillary is still in the offing.

Maybe not stupid but intellectually wishy-washy if they have not thought the supreme court issue through.

And I know dozens of Bernie supporters in Seattle and Atlanta who would never vote for Trump under any circumstances.

Bernie needs to go to the convention and get the DNC to support some of his platform. Once done then rally his supporters to vote Dem and reject all GOP candidates.

^ Yeah well 22% of them are voting for Trump, so you fuk off.

Hillaryous says 'sigh' instead of making the sound.

She then thanks everyone 3 times for attending.

Like I said, they're not into politics.

I'm sure there are many more than those that would turn to Trump. I have heard a figure as high as 20% could turn or just not vote.

^The single issue that will attract Sanders voters to Trump are the trade deals and this mainly applies to blue collar voters who have suffered the most by globalization.

Did you watch Trump's live speech yesterday? He was half-way through the speech before he opened his eyes forward. I mean literally for the first half he kept his eyes shut when facing the front and opened them fully forward slowly after that. During the first half he would swing his head left and right with eyes open on both sides and it was his usual, off the cuff, confident speaking style, including timely pauses and recipient of laughs and the crowd standing up and clapping. One has to wonder WTF is he hiding? Also, how could you possibly trust anybody who is not being up front?

Sorry to say, but your nephew and his wife aren't used to being up front either, if they vote for Trump.

There's probably $20 million of adverts all ready to roll, showing Trump's merchandise with the "Made in China" and "Made in Mexico" labels.

So that one's dead in the water.
