She's taken on the financial systems and it's an ongoing uphill battle. Just think what she could accomplish if she were Secretary of Defense. She could make as much money, or more, for the USA coffers cleaning up DOD's wasteful spending.

IMHO she could accomplish much more for her country as SECDEF than she could ever hope to accomplish as a Senator.

Possibly . . . but she'd still need to work on the basis of congressional approval, no?

Not sure what you mean by that. Yes, If you mean she'd need to be confirmed.

As far as running DOD I don't think she'd need congressional approval to implement some far reaching changes to how business is done.

And yes I'm sure she'd get a fight if she tried to eliminate some wasteful programs even from Democrats.

Good luck to anybody that can, but there is a lot of deeply entrenched veins of pork fat that's well defended in congress.
She could rock the boat from the DOD, but she would need the support of some significant military figures.

Just look at Washington state for example ... both Senators are Democrats and they need those bases for jobs just as much as they need Boeing. Even my Congressman (a Democrat) for the 6th district would fight any attempt at cutting jobs or money for the major bases in his area.

My thought though is she could put a squeeze on them all to better account for spending and eliminate waste.

Good points all, but the problem is not waste in the DOD, although there is plenty of that there. IMHO, it is that the Congress is bought by the oligarchs and dedicated to their agenda: more for the moneyed and powerful and little, including the means of mere subsistence, from the society as a whole. There is no balance between the ability to accumulate individual wealth and supporting the society that provides the processes needed to accumulate wealth. Until that mindset is as hateful to Americans as Communism is, it will remain in place and bring the country to ruin over and over again, just as it did in 1929, just as it did in 2008.

Lessig blamed the demise of his nearly three-month campaign on the Democratic Party, which he says leaves him "just shut out" of the primary debates.

Lessig focused his campaign exclusively on a single issue: Curbing the influence of big money in politics. His platform centered on passing the sweeping "Citizens Equality Act," a bill that would address campaign finance reform, enhance voting rights and end gerrymandering of electoral districts.
