when you copy photos from extremist bloggers like danegerus.com, how can you be sure that they aren't photoshopped? or do you even care?

    and how about some context?

what was the agenda of the march?

and finally, who did more harm to the troops.....the military leadership at walter reed, or those kids in the photo?

Typically, the anti-war marches are not photoshopped as there really isn't any need to make them any more imflamatory than they already are. That shot was simply to reinforce the fact that there exists some rather unsavory types - Jane Fondas if you will, that will do anything to undermine the troops.

Here is another shining example of how the Bush administration and government "support the troops."

National Guard Troops Denied Benefits After Longest Deployment Of Iraq War

MINNEAPOLIS, MN (NBC) -- When they came home from Iraq, 2,600 members of the Minnesota National Guard had been deployed longer than any other ground combat unit. The tour lasted 22 months and had been extended as part of President Bush's surge.

1st Lt. Jon Anderson said he never expected to come home to this: A government refusing to pay education benefits he says he should have earned under the GI bill.

"It's pretty much a slap in the face," Anderson said. "I think it was a scheme to save money, personally. I think it was a leadership failure by the senior Washington leadership... once again failing the soldiers."

Anderson's orders, and the orders of 1,161 other Minnesota guard members, were written for 729 days.

Had they been written for 730 days, just one day more, the soldiers would receive those benefits to pay for school.

^I'm not making excuses. I'm only wondering how things like this happen. Bush is the president so the buck stops with him but I cant see Bush and his cabinet sitting around plotting specific screwings of troops like this one. I wonder if it wasn't some overzealous pencil pusher, whose focus is to trim costs, thinking, "I can save some money here. We need to cut expenses". It was some guy who looks at numbers all day. Odds are it will be corrected.

raycarey in Kansas City, MO recently?

"Almost as soon as Ann and Don Bender marked the 4th of July by planting a field of more than 3,500 flags — one for each of the American troops killed in Iraq— the elements began to take a toll. The baking sun and sudden storms of a Great Plains summer left the little flagsticks warped and broken and the fabric bleached and torn. But that was nothing compared to the damage done in the dark hours of Sunday morning by vandals who kicked down thousands of the flags and left behind a cardboard sign with a single word splattered in red spray paint: "MURDERERS."

Reminiscent of some of his verbiage, eh?

It's a well-known fact that raycary & M/M despise our brave lads fighting in foreign lands so it was a shock to this poster to find ray's & M/M's position(s) are even more extreme than that of the Daily Kos!

Just when you've had a bellyfull of crap from the usual Nattering Nabobs of Negativism, along comes an excellent example of how our newest veterans are being cared for:

"GAINESVILLE, Fla. _ There’s a fast-growing new community on the campuses of our universities and colleges _ young men and women combat veterans fresh out of military service Those here at the University of Florida and Santa Fe Community College have change on their agenda.

With the help of a local congressman, supporters in the community and a soft-spoken campus veterans’ adviser, they just might succeed in fixing some problems and meeting a need that no one imagined we’d face."

On the concept of "Support the Troops," the Bush Administration and US government treats soldiers like garbage. Ordering bullet proof vests from Amazon.kom, and driving in Humvees which cannot be armored realistically, and digging through sprap metal yards for armor.

Here's just another example out of many.

Note: the cost of each MRAP vehicle is $1 million dollars. Complement of the working taxpayers of America.

WASHINGTON - Hundreds of U.S. Marines have been killed or injured by roadside bombs in Iraq because Marine Corps bureaucrats refused an urgent request in 2005 from battlefield commanders for blast-resistant vehicles, an internal military study concludes.

The study, written by a civilian Marine Corps official and obtained by The Associated Press, accuses the service of "gross mismanagement" that delayed deliveries of the trucks for more than two years.

Cost was a driving factor in the decision to turn down the request for the MRAPs — an acronym for mine-resistant, ambush-protected — according to the study. Stateside authorities saw the hulking vehicles, which can cost as much as a $1 million each, as a financial threat to programs aimed at developing lighter vehicles that were years from being fielded.

Just as well the US has unlimited funds, otherwise they could mitigate such oversights by pleading poverty.

I still want the other troops that were protected from a bomb when another of their group jumped on it to visit rayfarey. I think it would be very interesting to see raycarey say to their faces that it "WASN'T TRUE" or was a bs story made up by the US Military or that their friend wasn't a hero.

    Whoops!

Looks like not everyone is supporting our brave troops these days.

Most troops are REMFs aren't they? I wouldn't call that brave. I'd call that being a bureaucrat.

Anyway, this sounds like a symbolic act, and this recruiting office has been the site of some anti-war protests, likely because it's on Times Square.

you couldn't make this up if you tried...

the chief mental health official for VA sent an email to colleagues that began with "shhhh" and went on to try and cover up that 12,000 vets/ year under VA care attempt suicide.

these people are despicable, and so are their apologists.

hmmmmmm....no response to the above post.
    shocking.

well here's another interesting story about supporting the troops...

The Pentagon on Friday announced changes to procedures for the cremation of slain U.S. troops after concerns emerged about the military's use of a crematorium that burns both human and animal remains.
Pentagon officials said the issue came to light after a soldier who works at the Pentagon attended the cremation of a comrade killed in combat and expressed concern about the crematorium. The crematorium is in an industrial area and has a sign advertising the fact that it also cremates pets.

but we need more tax cuts, right?

As usual, it's the poor Troops that get the brunt rather than the Government that sent them there. Sad.

do you think before you post? do you think, period?

but i can tell you one thing i'm doing...i'm supporting barack obama for president.

he will bring the troops home from the fiasco in iraq, and he'll end these absurd tax cuts for the rich so that military personnel don't have to get cremated with cats.
