It may be unfair to stereotype, though there are traits which are recognised in particular races by their own members. There are of course exceptions, but when somebody stereotypes their own, who are outsiders to argue?
Today I was at an exchange booth with a longtime friend who has been visiting LoS for some couple of decades, as he needed to change a wad of £. Whilst waiting we were chatting about his latest love; meanwhile, an Iranian guy was talking on the phone behind us, in Farsi.
He got chatting with us after he rang off, and having perhaps overheard some of our conversation may have taken us for a couple of newbies. Chinning towards the amount of dosh beng counted out, he cautioned my friend to be careful with Thai girls because they're not to be trusted, adding pointedly, not one of them.
My friend spluttered then cracked up, almost doubled over, and when after a while he composed himself, asked the guy, nicely, and in his native Farsi, if he knew an honest Iranian, any at all, because he has yet to meet one.
