So how's that Hopy-Changy stuff workin' out for ya, eh? Exactly 3 years in, Obama’s job approval hits lowest level yet.
Heading into reelection years, pols want to be at least at the 50% level. A new Gallup Poll just out reveals that the ex-state senator’s job approval for his third full year is 44%.
That’s down from 47% in his second year.
That’s down from 57% in his first year.
It’s also down from the 69% approval he enjoyed on Inauguration Day.
What is really amazing is he’s doing even that well. What a putz...

Obama campaign piles on Romney misery

President Barack Obama’s reelection team twisted the knife in Mitt Romney Monday, seeking to deepen the misery for the wounded Republican White House front-runner as crucial new tests loomed.

Obama campaign manager Jim Messina launched an assault on Romney, and gave his insurgent challenger Newt Gingrich a pass, in a clear sign the president’s brain trust would rather face the volatile former House speaker in November.

“The bottom line is this: the more voters learn about Romney, the more unfavorably they view him,” Messina said in a memo issued two days after Gingrich won the latest Republican nominating contest, in South Carolina.

Romney, the establishment Republican pick, awoke Monday with just over a week to slow Gingrich’s momentum ahead of the Florida primary on January 31, and Messina’s shot appeared to be an attempt to complicate his efforts.

“This week Florida’s voters will meet a candidate with no core values who believes he’s entitled to play by a different set of rules,” he said, pressing a campaign narrative that Romney is a mere cipher for the wealthy.

“Like their predecessors in the other early states, they will see a career politician willing to say and stand for anything to get elected and (who) is out of touch with working and middle-class Americans.

“Mitt Romney prides himself on being a great businessman. But the American people aren’t buying what he’s selling,” Messina said hours before the Republican candidates clash in their latest debate in Tampa, Florida.

Recent opinion polls suggest that Obama would face a tough fight against Romney in a general election, with the result of the race locked within a few points.

The former Massachusetts governor has long been seen as the most effective messenger for a critique of Obama on the key issue : jobs — at least he was until a furor erupted last week over his record as a venture capitalist.

Obama handily leads in national polls over Gingrich, who is considered less likely to attract key independent voters and has a controversial past which could cloud Republican efforts to make the election a referendum on the president’s economic record.

Messina’s broadside also represented an opening shot in the fight for the crucial state of Florida in November.

If Obama wins the Sunshine State, which has 29 of the 270 electoral votes needed to claim the White House, his path to reelection could be all but assured.

Obama: Taxing millionaires about math, not envy

President Barack Obama on Thursday rebutted his Republican critics, like former Massachusetts Gov. Mitt Romney, who have accused him of having a “politics of envy.”

“Do we want to keep these tax cuts for the wealthiest Americans or do we want to keep investing in everything else?” he said at an event in Las Vegas. “We can’t do both.”

Obama said that those making over a million dollars a year should pay a tax rate of at least 30 percent, his so-called Buffett rule, and noted that Bill Gates had a similar view.

Biden predicts Democrats will retake the House

Vice President Biden on Friday predicted re-election for himself and President Obama, along with a regained majority for Democrats in the House of Representatives.

The vice president, addressing House Democratic lawmakers at their retreat in Maryland, said he saw victories for Democrats this fall after a campaign based on drawing stark contrasts with Republicans.

"I really do think that we're going to win back the House," Biden said. "I think we will win based purely on the merits of our position."

Biden also predicted victory for Obama this fall, too, telling lawmakers over their applause that he envisions this year's battle with Republicans concluding with him and the president, standing on the steps of the Capitol next year, being sworn into office for a second term.

    Heh...

Photos of Tea Parties in Arizona greeting Obama's limousine

Obama came to Arizona Wednesday to brag about creating new jobs. He thinks he may have a shot at winning Arizona this fall for reelection. Uh, don't think so, not by the looks of the reception he received as he drove through Phoenix. Arizona's governor Jan Brewer had it out with him the instant he got off the plane, waving her finger in his face.

    Ain't that the truth...

Caroline Kennedy sent an email to supporters earlier today, remembering the moment her uncle Ted Kennedy lent his voice to President Obama’s campaign:

Four years ago today, I joined my Uncle Teddy and thousands of excited students at American University to endorse Barack Obama as the next president of the United States.

Barack Obama had stirred something in young people and the young at heart. I saw the passion in my own teenage children, and I heard it from a different generation of people who said they felt like they did when my father ran for president.

We felt strongly that we needed to elect a President who urged us to believe in ourselves, who could tie that belief to our highest ideals, and who understood that together we can do great things.

Four years later, as I think about what first inspired me to support Barack Obama, I'm proud we have a president who has fought hard for the values Teddy held dear, and stood up on issues that matter, regardless of the consequences.

Will you join me by saying what first inspired you to stand with Barack Obama?

Teddy understood that the challenges of health care aren’t political—they are personal. That’s why Teddy fought for 40 years to make health care a right and not a privilege for American families.

How proud he would have been to see his candidate sign the Affordable Care Act into law as president, giving all Americans the security of knowing that their health care will be there when they need it most.

In his speech four years ago today, Teddy reminded us all of that bright light of hope and possibility that shines even in the darkest hours. He knew that with Barack Obama as president, America would shine again. I don’t think he would be surprised to know that four years later, this president would have ended the war in Iraq, repealed “Don’t Ask, Don’t Tell,” and guaranteed women the right to equal pay for equal work.

The 2012 election will be harder than the last. And as you think about what role you can play this time, I want you to remember that when Teddy joined this campaign, it wasn’t just Barack Obama who drew him in.

    It was you.

The possibility of a campaign run by ordinary people who are determined to change our country for the better and who are willing to work as hard as necessary inspired him then, and it’s what inspires me today.

Thanks for all you do. I'll see you out there,

    Caroline

Was reading an article in the Miami Herald this morning about the last day of early voting in the state (Florida) and thought this was amusing,……

Nelly Zamora of Miami strode briskly into the polling site as if it was the one Saturday errand that just had to be done. She came out after casting her vote for Gingrich.

“Gingrich — I don’t like him,” Zamora said. “I don’t like Romney either. I want Obama to win. Does that make sense to you? And I’m a Republican.”

Like Brooks, she felt the economy would be the main issue in November, but opined, “I think the economy is coming around. I think Mr. Obama has done a great job for what he inherited. People don’t give him credit for it. I don’t think these other two clowns would’ve done any better. So, I want to keep it going the way it is.”

What Obama's campaign isn't talking about is the massive debt he's laid before the young folks. The youth of America will spend the rest of their lives paying for Obama’s spending spree. They have been sold into slavery.

In 2008, the youth vote was overwhelmingly for Obama and helped elect him to the White House. Now, three years into his presidency and one year from the most important election of our lives, college students are thinking twice before voting for Obama again

And one reason why I believe some of the Republicans will not come out in numbers for any challenger (to Obama).

They might, just might get 45% for their candidate (total popular vote), but not much more. The only thing that might bring them out is if there are local or national seats they feel strongly about and want to support.

I know a few myself. They have turned away from the GOP because of the anti-gay, anti-personal freedom stance Republicans have taken since Bush 2 and the downright meaness coming to surface now.

There was a time I would vote either republican or democrat, depending on who I thought was most fit. Now I have registered as a democrat.

President Barack Obama unveiled a new $5 billion veterans jobs plan Friday that the administration says will put thousands of men and women who once wore their country's uniform back to work.

The new Veterans Jobs Corps initiative, first mentioned in the president's State of the Union address last week, involves partnerships with the Veterans Administration and the Interior Department, as well as state and local law enforcement agencies.

Under the blueprint, the administration will award $166 million in grant money to communities that show a preference for hiring post-9/11 veterans for new law enforcement positions. In addition, $320 million in grant money will be awarded to various fire departments who pledge to hire and train new veterans.

Money for those grants has already been appropriated by Congress (he's campaigning): Obama unveils $5 billion veterans jobs proposal - CNN.com

The source told The Huffington Post that they lamented the direction the conference has taken over the years. They said it used to be about "conservative strategy" and building a movement, but now it was mostly an "alpha male" spectacle focused on fundraising to beat Obama.

^Like I posted earlier, that map is/was twisted. The author of the article (in Boons link) took great liberties to distort the original Gallop post/map the author refers to.

No Republican will take Florida-29 (or PA-20 or OH-18) which is another 67 electoral votes on top of the 229 Obama has pretty much locked up. Total electoral votes for Obama 296,..he wins.

Obama campaign army ready to take Florida in November

Four years ago, then Democratic presidential candidate Barack Obama won Florida with the largest voter mobilization effort ever seen in Florida. This year’s effort could be even greater.

Most of the political world was still buzzing about Mitt Romney’s overwhelming Florida primary win, as Ashley Walker rose from her seat one morning last week to address a room full of Barack Obama campaign Florida field directors gathered at the University of Tampa.

“We need to strive for excellence every day. Each day when we get up we need to think about what we can do to earn Florida’s 29 electoral votes for President Obama,’’ Walker, the Organizing for America Florida director, told the assembled operatives.

For Romney allies, who boasted of five full-time staffers — a fraction of what Obama already has in Florida — and a Florida ground organization that mainly consisted of mailing fliers to absentee votes, the scene in Tampa should be intimidating. Four years ago, Obama won Florida with the largest voter mobilization effort ever seen in Florida. This year’s effort could dwarf that.

Obama holds edge over Romney in general election matchup, poll finds

In a general-election test, Obama leads Romney 52 to 43 percent among all Americans; more narrowly, 51 to 45 percent, among registered voters. Among all adults, it’s Obama’s first time topping 50 percent in a head-to-head matchup with Romney since July; it’s his first time ever above that point among registered voters.

    Snip

The new survey also tested Obama against Gingrich. In that matchup, the president is ahead by 15 points overall and 11 among registered voters, both similar to the numbers from January.

Momentum: Obama holds edge over Romney in general election matchup, poll finds - The Washington Post

Interview with Today’s Show Matt Lauer,………

    Obama: Spotlight on family

Two things stood out to us in President Obama’s interview with NBC’s Matt Lauer before yesterday’s Super Bowl. First, when asked about his comment three years ago that his presidency would be a “one-term proposition” if he hadn’t turned the economy around, Obama responded, “I deserve a second term, but I am not done.” He added, “We've created 3.7 million jobs in the last 23 months. We've created the most jobs since 2005, the most manufacturing jobs since 1990, but we're not finished." And he concluded by saying that progress has been made on the economy, but that it’s important not to reverse that progress. The other thing that stood out to us: his comment that a president gets better as time goes on. When Lauer asked about some of his supporters being disappointed with the amount of change his administration has accomplished, Obama replied, “I'm going to just keep on doing is plodding away, very persistent. And you know what? One of the things about being president is you get better as time goes on.” It’s mildly surprising to hear a president say that, but it is also one of the truths the public does believe -- and it’s an additional hurdle for a potential challenger. In a close call election, the “don’t change horses in midstream” mantra can be a strong pull.

    And a Chrysler/Obama (?) ad,……..

Ya, Detroit is really coming togeether:

Detroit's Unemployment Rate Is Nearly 50%

    Huffington Post
Officially, Detroit's unemployment rate is just under 30 percent. But the city's mayor and local leaders are suggesting a far more disturbing figure -- the actual jobless rate, they say, is closer to 50 percent.
As many have noted, the Bureau of Labor Statistics, which culls federal unemployment data, does not account for all of the jobless in its widely-quoted national unemployment figures. Among those omitted: part-time workers who are looking for full-time jobs and frustrated job seekers who abandon their job search altogether.
(For some context, the official national unemployment rate is 10 percent, but the "underemployment rate" is 17.2 percent.)
Detroit city officials argue that, when workers who are underemployed are added to the calculation, the number of city residents who are out of work is close to one in every two.

Obama approval soars to 50 percent on jobs figures

Washington: Boosted by rising US jobs figures, President Barack Obama's approval rating has hit the magical 50-percent mark and he has opened up a double-digit lead over his likely Republican opponent in November, a poll showed on Monday.

The poll by the Washington Post and ABC television found Obama reaching the 50 percent barrier -- seen as a critical threshold for an incumbent seeking re-election -- for the first time since Osama bin Laden was killed last May.

Pollsters said Obama's ascent comes as the US economic recovery appears to be finally taking hold, with voters appearing more confident and comfortable with his policies.

The US president now holds a solid 11 percentage point lead over the frontrunner for the Republican nomination, Mitt Romney, in a hypothetical general election matchup, according to the survey.

Obama leads Romney 52 to 43 percent among all Americans, and a narrower 51 to 45 percent among registered voters -- his first time topping 50 percent in a head-to-head matchup with Romney since July, the pollsters said.

But the president still has substantial work to do: Among the all-important independent voters likely to determine the outcome of the election, 47 percent approve and 50 percent disapprove of the way he is handling his job.

His approval numbers are much better than they had been a few months ago however -- they had been as low as 34 percent among swing voters.

As the Republican nomination battle grows more bitter and divisive, the public's view of Romney, seen as the clear frontrunner after back-to-back wins in Florida and Nevada, has soured, the poll found.

Fifty-five percent of those who are closely following the campaign said they disapprove of what the Republican candidates have been saying.

Romney, a former Massachusetts governor and multimillionaire venture capitalist, appears to have been hurt by negative assaults launched by his rivals for the nomination, in particular former House speaker Newt Gingrich.

By more than two to one, respondents said the more they learn about Romney, the less they like him, while 57 percent of those polled said they approved of most of what Obama's laid out in last month's State of the Union speech.

^ LMAO. Phoney numbers (current unemployment rates do NOT include the underemployed -- ie, folks who took Mcjobs -- nor the gave-up-looking folks) and the current unemployment rate is still higher than when he took office.

Mr. Biden was out recently promoting Obama and his message

Biden in Florida: Keep tuition low

The vice president spoke at Florida State University, pushing the president’s college affordability plan.

Vice President Joe Biden was on his way to a prom years ago when he saw his father pacing outside.

Had something happened to Mom? Was something wrong?

His father, it turned out, had just returned from the bank, where he was turned down for a loan to pay for Biden’s education at the University of Delaware. “I’m so ashamed,” Biden recalled him saying.

The anecdote, delivered in a speech Monday to students at Florida State University, was used to promote President Barack Obama’s new college affordability plan — which would reward states for keeping costs low.

Where do you get your information? Or are you just disgusted because you understand things might be getting better for some of us Americans with a Democratic President (that will win another term) and a Republican House doing everything they can to stop his/our (as in the US) progress?

Because the information I see tells a different story. Seems the American public is seeing brighter skies. Look at the graph below and when Bush left office in 08,……..-60 and now economic confidence among Americans is at -27 . Which still isn’t good a good number, but it’s a hellofa lot better number than -60.

Again, why do you hate us Americans so much? Most non-American hate posters here could give a shit about our politics: Americans’ Economic Confidence Continues to Dramatically Improve | Elections
