    Obama Proposes Taxing Wealthiest Dividends

    In his new budget blueprint, President Obama is proposing to tax dividends of the wealthiest taxpayers as ordinary income subject to their top income-tax rate, which was the practice until the Bush administration lowered the rates. The proposal, released on Monday morning with other parts of the budget, would raise about $206 billion over 10 years.

    Assuming that the Bush-era tax cuts expire at the end of the year, as required by law, dividends for the top 2 percent of income-earners would be taxed at 39.6 percent. Before 2002, the richest taxpayers paid a 35 percent tax on dividends, like on all ordinary income.

    Republicans are certain to try to block the change, as they have done to thwart Mr. Obama’s 2008 campaign promise to end the Bush-era tax cuts for those making more than $250,000 a year.

    No where in the link you posted your copy and paste from does it support any “bunch of better headlines”. The only link your link refers to is the original article “20% OF REPUBLICANS LEANING TO OBAMA!” and its six questions the article was based on.

    The only other headlines that might be better from the article I posted would be:

    Obama would defeat all of the four Republicans if the election were held today

    or

    Independent voters are apparently quite put off with the Republican nomination fight

    or

    Among independents, 60 percent said Obama has either met or exceeded expectations

    Must be hell; these days/these past years, trying to promote/defend/support your brand of Republican.

    The registered-voter poll was conducted across 10 states where Obama had small margins of victory in 2008 and are considered decisive in the upcoming presidential election.

    These swing states fall into three regional tiers. The Rocky Mountain tier includes Colorado, Nevada and New Mexico. The Rust Belt tier includes Iowa, Ohio, Pennsylvania and Wisconsin. And the Dixie tier includes North Carolina, Florida and Virginia.

    Across these states, Santorum performs about as well as Romney in matchups with the president.

    The swing-state voters back Obama over Romney by 8 percentage points and Santorum by 9 points.

    Obama tops Paul by 12 points in the poll. Gingrich lags farthest behind Obama, as voters in these key states prefer the president to the former Speaker by 20 points. In the most recent Fox News national poll -- released Friday -- registered voters give Obama a 13-point edge over Gingrich.

    New Mexico 5
    Iowa 6
    Ohio 18
    Pennsylvania 20
    Wisconsin (already blue on the state map)
    North Carolina 15
    Virginia 13
    Florida 29

    Total electoral votes gained for Obama: 121

    Add the 121 votes to the map above for Obama that’s (215 + 121) 336. Obama wins! If you remove those 121 votes from the Rethug (who ever that might be) you get (323 – 121) 202 electoral votes for the Republican contender.

    Like I said before, the author of map/article that Boon originally posted took great liberties to twist the original Gallup map the author received the information from.

    Obama touts steps to boost US trade

    With a giant 787 Dreamliner jet as his backdrop, President Obama said the government needs to do more to spur American manufacturing exports as Boeing has with its planes.

    In his last appearance on a three-day trip, Obama unveiled a set of new proposals aimed at giving American manufacturers a better competitive edge against foreign companies.

    "We've gotta make sure we're making it easier for companies like Boeing to create jobs here at home and sell our products abroad," Obama said, addressing workers at Boeing's cavernous plant in Everett, Wash., noting that "business is booming" for the company, which hired 13,000 people nationwide last year.

    Heh...the Obummer is even polling bad in the left-wing, moonbat liberal state of WA!

    9 months from Election Day, Barack Obama has a net approval rating of Minus 5 in Washington State, according to a SurveyUSA poll conducted exclusively for KING-TV Seattle. 42% today approve of the job he is doing as president, 47% disapprove. But: the number of Washington voters who say Obama has been a worse president than they expected is 2.5 times greater than the number who say Obama has been better than they expected. On specific aspects of his administration, Obama is:
    * Plus 14 on his handling of Iraq.
    * Minus 1 on his handling of Afghanistan.
    * Minus 19 on his handling of the economy.
    * Minus 20 on his handling of health care.
    * Minus 26 on his handling of the federal deficit.

    You are only preaching to a converted choir booner- a mostly elderly, mostly white, mostly southern & 'heartland' choir. A declining Demographic. The rest see through the nonsense, because they have been bombarded by it for so many years now. The Right wing noise machine scored some early 'hits'- Swiftboating, push polling and so on, but they are discredited now- and they just furiously send these chain Emails and so on between each other, to the bemusement of the rest of Amerka.

    ^ Well said sabang. Some of those bogus emails have been in circulation for over 10 years long after they where exposed and discredited. Sad really. I know of an particular old fool who sends me one of these letters from time to time. I promptly go to snopes.com or some other source and send all the proof that the email is completely bogus. His response was "well I agree with the sentiment of it"

    The fact is that these people will knowingly push lies if they think that it will help there poisoned, perverted political views.

    Thanks for posting the poll (Results of SurveyUSA Election Poll #18989) from the rightwing site I read every day. Funny thing about these people/sites, they will show you the things you want to see (as a batshit crazy right winger). It supports their agenda.

    From the poll in your link,….

    Cell phone respondents and home phone respondents included in this research. 650 registered voters from the state of WA were interviewed by SurveyUSA 02/13/12 through 02/15/12. Of them, 572 were registered to vote and asked the questions that appear here. This research was conducted using blended sample, mixed mode: SurveyUSA Election Poll #18989

    Now here’s the rest of the poll (Results of SurveyUSA Election Poll #18989), done by the same people, same day.

    From the poll in my link,…….

    9 months till Washington state voters elect a Governor, Republican Rob McKenna edges slightly further ahead of Democrat Jay Inslee, 49% to 39%, according to a SurveyUSA poll conducted exclusively for KING-TV Seattle. One month ago, McKenna had led by 3. McKenna continues to do well among men, but now he newly though narrowly also leads among women. A majority of those in Eastern Washington, a majority of more affluent voters, and a majority of college-educated voters back the Republican.

    In head-to-head matchups for President of the United States, Barack Obama captures Washington's 12 electoral votes, and keeps Washington a Blue State, by defeating:

    * Mitt Romney by 11 points, 50% to 39%.
    * Rick Santorum by 13 points, 51% to 38%.
    * Ron Paul by 13 points, 50% to 37%.
    * Newt Gingrich by 22 points, 56% to 34%.

    As bad as Obama is polling with the people in Washington; according to Boons post, the majority still would rather have Obama as their President (by double digits) than any of the misfits the Rethugs have to offer.

    Well, maybe the Republican field is a tad weak but Obama is trailing Ron Paul in Iowa.

    “The president defeats only Newt Gingrich, 51 percent to 37 percent.” So, you know, the strength of the Democratic field is probably overstated...

    Ya think?

    Hey, gas prices are forecast to rise to $5 a gal soon. Just watched Komo ABC local & national news: they blame the price hike on the explosion at BP's Ferndale refinery (?) and the Iran embargo on UK & France. Not one syllable that bambam's clampdown on local production is to blame. Sham reporting.

    Surprise, surprise - Palin, BoonMe and Mini Mom wrong again.

    http://mediamatters.org/research/201105090007

    "The biggest factor is the rapid growth in world demand, especially India and China. Over the past decade, about a third of the global growth in world demand has come from China alone. Currently with most of the exports from Libya down, that is causing prices to be higher. However, Saudi Arabia has indicated they will pick up the slack, but that will take a while to work through the system. Saudi oil is sour crude, and Libya produces sweet crude mostly destined for European refineries that cannot generally take sour crude."

    Oil prices are going to rise no matter who is president as long as the world economy grows and demand increases. The US has its head in the sand about this issue, and even an administration that had the will to institute long-term policies to meet this challenge would be stymied by recalcitrant right-wingers who think invasion/fracking/oil sand extraction/mountain top removal/deep sea drilling are the answer. I suppose it shouldn't be a surprise that dinosaurs like fossil fuels.

    Ya, dinosaurs like fossil fuel; those dam dinosaurs driving their SUVs caused the Ice Age that wiped them out.
    I just can't get over the brain-washed libbies here. Sure, China & India oil demand is soaring, but what price do they pay for gas at the pump? Why aren't lefties attacking those countries for enviro issues?

    January fundraising winners and losers...

    WINNERS

    * President Obama: All four Republican presidential candidates raised good money but also spent heavily in January. Obama faced the prospect of a well-funded Mitt Romneyending the nominating contest in January and having plenty of primary cash leftover to build a campaign over the next six months, but that’s no longer going to happen.

    Obama’s campaign had $76 million cash on hand at the end of the month; the four GOP candidates had less than $13 million combined. Even better for Obama is the fact that Romney’s opponents closed the fundraising gap significantly, which will reduce Romney’s spending advantage going forward.

    They rarely post up "left wing statistics". What media matters does is to call out the massive amounts of misinformation being pumped out by the right and that is precisely why you do not like them. They are good at pointing out your tainted sources of information. From the "about us" page of their website;

    "Media Matters for America is a Web-based, not-for-profit, 501(c)(3) progressive research and information center dedicated to comprehensively monitoring, analyzing, and correcting conservative misinformation in the U.S. media.

    Launched in May 2004, Media Matters for America put in place, for the first time, the means to systematically monitor a cross section of print, broadcast, cable, radio, and Internet media outlets for conservative misinformation — news or commentary that is not accurate, reliable, or credible and that forwards the conservative agenda — every day, in real time.

    Using the website mediamatters.org as the principal vehicle for disseminating research and information, Media Matters posts rapid-response items as well as longer research and analytic reports documenting conservative misinformation throughout the media. Additionally, Media Matters works daily to notify activists, journalists, pundits, and the general public about instances of misinformation, providing them with the resources to rebut false claims and to take direct action against offending media institutions."

    There is good reason to understand why you hate them so much and would like to see them discredited. They expose lies.
