Ten things to do in Pattaya please.

    Hi,
My Husband and I have chosen Pattaya as next years holiday location but have never been there mainly because of the stigma that sems to be attached to the place.

I have always been the type of person to not judge a place unless I have been there first. We were lead to believe that Phuket was a sleaze fest but we have been there 4 times and we love the place and you can avoid the sleaze so, that said, we are going to Pattaya next year.

I have been doing some research on the place and have chosen a couple of things to do while there. One is the 'flight of the Gibbon' and another is a visit to 'Koh Larn'.

Can anyone please give me some suggestions on a few other things to do while there?

I'm also after some suggestions for places to eat. Maybe a nice mix of both Thai and Western restaurants. We like the little hole in the wall restaurants as well as you tend to get quality food for a lot less. We will be staying at Nirvana Place between Pattaya and Jomtien.

Thanks Guys. I look forward to your suggestions.

Pattaya is not Phuket... The sex trade is far more in your face in Pattaya... Having said that, if you stay away from everything between 2nd road and the beach, you should be ok, with the possible exception of the shopping malls...

Literally. Funtimez, where will you be staying. It's best to know before you get there, as to it's locality to the sleaze.

It literally is the world's number one sex tourism destination. I honestly don't know of another place in the world with this number of available sex workers.

You don't like sleaze you say????????????

Sri Racha Tiger Zoo, The Crocodile Park, Nong Nuch Village, not to mention the many great golf courses and Restaurants (Bruno's, Mata Hari's, A taste of India) for example.

I went down to a beach at Bang Chang recently and it was nice and quite.

You may also hire a car and drive south towards Rayong and on to Trad where you will find Koh Chang and many nice mainland beaches and cheap beach front accommodation dotted along the coastline. Just buy yourself a map and it is quite easy to get around.

I hope you enjoy your holidays.

They have a fake floating market on Sukhimvit about 10 kilometers from the center of town. To tell you the truth, it's an absolute waste of time and a silly over priced tourist trap, but I presume it's there for men who mistakingly bring their wives to Pattaya and are not allowed to the fun things the single men in Pattaya get to do. Pattaya is not a suitable vacation place for a couple, it's an ugly dangerous and dirty town in which a single man can have a wicked good time. Do yourselves a favor and go to Hua Hin instead.

Gotta disagree with you there BobR.
Not looking for handbags at dawn, but me the missus and another couple spent a couple of hours down there last Sunday.
The tourist tack that they sell is quite reasonabily priced and the restaurants do not charge you "skin tax".
Didn't buy anything because as you know, you can buy all their products down the local market or street corner, but for a tourist it can be a good experience.
Yes it is a kinda knock-off floating market, but for people on their 2 week shin-dig it can be a nice 1/2 day out.
I would agree with BobR if the poster was someone who had spent a bit of time here, but for a young couple with a few hours to kill I think it would be interesting.
    One more thing...........
STAY AWAY FROM MINI SIAM!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! !!!!!!!
    Black diamonds? I shit 'em.

As long as you stay in the pool there is plenty to do.
