Yeah Its the typical Tilapia. Big one nonetheless. I am so used to wild fish fighting hard and takes some time to land. Fish here are lazy. Few flops and done. Clearly this was a fish some one released in the lake but it was wild and did get big.

He would show up at the house with a pickup bed full of beautiful culls which did not meet the shipping inspectors criteria. I swear they ended up in Costco dried Mangos as the ones from Thailand smell and taste just like his!

Did you see any critters, Jay?

Was gently lolling in me egg chair while doing me morning wordle, opened me eyes to see I made a new buddy.

I get that I'm likable just give a lad some space eh.

He jumped down after around 3 or 4 minutes and I'd be lying if I said I wasn't relieved that he didn't go up me shorts.

Cheers NPT, the good ol days are in the rearview mirror now for TD. While a good house build thread would be fun, my wife and I have ours exactly how we want it. We just enjoy it now.

As for the bickerson crew, its what TD has become with only a handful of regulars. Anytime you post any content, they fire up and off they go. I find it rather amusing.

    Cheers to ya.

I bought our house in vientiane but there was years of renovation went into it. We're actually thinking of selling it as it's becoming to hard to maintain it from here getting tired of dealing with whiney tenants as well. This one we have now is wearing my mother in law out. The guy next door( Aussie) mention to her he would be interested in buying it. I will discuss it with him in a couple of weeks time when I am there.

This is why I sold my house in the US. I just didn't want to be chasing it, hiring a property manager, the extra taxes and income, having to keep all receipts for write offs then all the calls and headaches when something breaks or wears out. I just decided that if I ever moved back to the US with my wife I wouldn't want to live in the place anyway. I'd just rent a place and with that option we could land anywhere and enjoy and if we didn't like it, pack up a few boxes and go.

Why I never bought a 2nd beach place here. We Just wanted a home base then go travel anywhere and not always going back to the same place. It sounds like you aren't moving back this way so selling it might be a good sound plan. Put a few bucks in the bank and relax.

I thought the plan was to move back and retire there once the kids have gone through college/uni/apprenticeship and yer Aussie pension kicks in?

You certainly seemed happier when living there.

Exactly and with the Aussie dollar being low to the $USD the money would be better invested here. When I retire I've now decided I'm not going to spend all my time in Laos it will be a mixture of Oz, Lao, Vietnam, Thailand etc. That's the current plan anyway

And I certainly was. There are positives and negatives to living in the west again. We are happy enough for the time being .

Yeah. For us US guys, its about 32.50 or so which is perfectly fine. I dont exchange US to THB as I worked here for years and my savings is what it is.

My SS is direct deposit to my US bank and I really don't pay attention to it. It moves to a CD and sits. I didn't do the "Wire to Philippines, deposit in Thailand" process as I want to exchange it when it could be more favorable plus it keeps me financially online in the states so if my wife and I decide to travel back or move back in the coming years, we are established.
