I always stay at Tony's Riverside Guest House. Huge rooms with aircon and a massive TV with all the channels.

Mutmee has long been Nong Khai's standout guesthouse. It has the most pleasant rambling gardens where you could easily lose a day or two with a good book, stuck in one of their hammocks. Set on the riverbank at the end of a soi that runs down from the main road, Mutmee is at the end of a veritable traveller's centre with bookstores, internet, yoga, an art gallery and a variety of other classes and interests that come and go with the time.

I second that. Very much a cligue.
A bunch of world tired seen it all know it all type of persons.
Nice garden setting though.

And they must do something right as I believe that have had the same management for more than a decade.

It`s very much a farang hangout, you wont see any thai people staying here.

^ Yep, I remember. A brilliant thread. And I noted the place above -- farang seem to just call it Buddha Park. The monk made the first one in Laos before the revolution when he took off to Thailand, not far from the Friendship Bridge (I think). The three-story building with depictions of heaven, earth and hell is fantastic, but it was in a sad state of disrepair last I was there.
I wish some Thai/farang folks in Nong Khai would do some explanatory signs for some of the exhibits -- the white elephant with the "dog" followers (hilarious) and the Circle of Life, especially.

Yep, you explained them to a tee.
It also amazed me that you could never get a cup of decent coffee in NK (Nescafe and Coffee Mate), but swim across the Mekhong and there's divine Lao coffee, never mind the fresh baguettes with real butter and home-made marmalade for breakkie.
