    Hello

Concerned about safety of friends and family in C Rai
I read of curfew and violence be good to hear from anyone actually there esp foreigners with a get out contingency strategy for when theATMNMS phones net stop and official border posts closed to Thai nationals

Are expats leaving are borders to Laos and Burma still open if worst comes to worst. The rd from Nan is hut at night but I think sneeking into Laos as refugees maybe better than mayhem here for some Thais closely associated with the wrong team.

Last time I went to C Rai International Airport there were no flights out to anywhere outside Thailand

Waht about C Mai there used to be Silk Air to Singers and Air Asia to KLumpur and Bangkok Air to China, tho the service to Cheili aka Banna aka Jinhong JHG has been suspended there was an airline I think Yu'Nan to Simao or Dali??

Or boats from C Saen to China without a visa and pay thePSB on arrival?

What's your out if worst happens we were told can only drive Kwentung in Burma and overland need visa to get to China from C mai

Can Falangs cross into Vietnam with visa bought on border heading to Hong Kong and safety?or Vientiane

Well good luck keep safe and thanks for this place for some real news

If take car out can it be sold /scrapped in Laos Cambodia or Vietnam?

If it helps any, things are comparatively quiet here in the North. Doesn't hurt to plan ahead but personally I wouldn't worry about it too much (I live in CM).

Thank you Mr Robertson for a sane and reassuring response.
Do have no exit strategy .I relaise the old sick infirm and cashless will have few choices.

As you know Thai net media and telephones are unpredictable at best of times and it is always prudent to plan for worst case scenario if you can afford to .

I am advising my friends have $ cash a bag packed and plan aLao vacation until heats off.
Most insurers have bailed after the 'terror" gaffe,of course this is self fulfilling.

A well informed farang official in anNGO in Vientiane says hotels are filling and ex Siamese EFL teachers
looking for a better start under communism !
I guess we will all find out soon be it a coup or something else.
I am sure big interests be they USA, China or Thai big money cannot want a full blow guerilla situation
    can they?
Its not like Vietnam with Communists rousing the poor.Their leader is a wealthy exile.

I would also recommend going back to school to learn how to write in a way that people can understand (unless you enjoy getting your posts trashed).
